Now, now, you don’t want to spoil the surprise by giving him ring specifics, but you do want him to get the right ring. Chances are, if your guy is sneaking around trying to save up for and choose the right engagement ring, he has NO CLUE what you might want (that is of course unless he’s pretty jewelry savvy or you’ve been dropping hints for a while). So, why not do him a favor and give him a few subtle examples of what you’re interested in. Below, are a few simple and subtle ways to make sure he gets the ring you love (or pretty close to it).

Pinterest Hints

Pinterest is a great social media platform that you can use to display pictures of things you like. Create a board entitled dreams or goals, and add a few things to it. This can include things like nice houses, cars, pictures of pets or cute kids, and of course a engagement ring or wedding ring set. If your guy is really into social media he will certainly start stalking your boards for ideas and inspiration.

Share Celebrity Pics

If you have social media sites like Instagram or Facebook, this is a great platform to subtly let your guy know what you’re interested in. Celebrities are very active on social media these days, and it is quite likely that you’ll come across a few pictures of wedding or engagement rings. Since they’re celebrities, it’s alright to gush over their pictures without looking too obvious. Simply share a post on social media with a comment that reads, “Congrats to the newly engaged couple, that ring is so gorgeous” (or something along those lines). Your friends and family members will chime in almost ensuring that your guy will eventually see the post you’ve made.

Use a Friend

Social media is not the only way to send a subliminal message to your guy, you can always use your friends. If you have friends or family members who have recently been engaged or married, have them bring it up in conversation with your guy. Talk about the details of the ring, putting some focus on the features you liked the most. For example, maybe you’re looking for black diamond rings and your friend just got one, talk about the uniqueness of the color stone or metal.

Online Browsing Trick

Alright so if your guy hasn’t gotten the hint by this point you’re going to have to find another option that is a bit more obvious but still subtle. How do you do that without coming out and simply telling him which ring you want? Well, all you have to do is browse engagement rings online. In your spare time whether you rummage through an online magazine, blog, online jewelry store, or social media platform, check out some engagement rings that you’re most interested in. When you’re done, “forget” to close the window. The next time your guy hops on the computer, what’s the first thing he’s going to see? The engagement rings you like, of course!

Hopefully, these subtle tips have given you some ideas on how to best throw hints at your guy. With any luck, he’ll catch on to the hints and begin shopping for the ring you’re most interested in. If not, at least you gave it a good old fashioned try. At the end of the day, it’s the message behind the ring that should matter, not the ring itself. So here’s to spending eternity together and hopefully saying yes to the ring.
