Do you know where the hottest place on earth is? There are lots of areas that argue they have some of the hottest temperatures on the planets, and one of these is a kibbutz in Israel, that lies just west of the Israel-Jordan border and Jordan River. This kibbutz (a name used to describe small communities in Israel) is called Tirat Tsvi, and its temperatures climb sky high in summer. In fact, back in 1942, there were temperatures of 129 Fahrenheit recorded! Makes you look a bit bad about complaining when the summer in the States doesn’t get anywhere close to those temperatures!

Is there anything we can learn from the people who live in this extremely hot environment? You’ll be happy to hear that there are a lot of tips we can take from them that will help us cool down in summer. Even if we only experience temperatures of around 90 Fahrenheit, it’s well worth making a note of all these cool ideas.

Eat Watermelon

It is a well-known fact that you need to drink plenty of water during hot periods to prevent you from dehydrating. This can be a bit of a struggle for those of us who don’t really like drinking water. But, the people of Tirat Tsvi came up with a great alternative. As well as drinking plenty of liquids, you should also snack on watermelon. Watermelon is very healthy and packed full of nutrients, but it also has a very high water content. That makes it the perfect snack to rehydrate with!

Consider Air Con Options

There are various ways the people of Tirat Tsvi. Up until a few decades ago, most people simply used fans in their homes. However, this is quite a noisy option, and you may not be able to get to sleep with a fan whirring away in your room! Air conditioning is super popular in The States and is also now the most popular option in the kibbutz. Thankfully, there are now lots of trained people in Tirat Tsvi who can deal with air conditioning repair. They also have one option that you might not be so keen to adopt. Some people in the kibbutz don’t try to cool their homes at all – they see resisting the heat naturally as a big badge of honor!

Go Swimming

When it gets really hot, we will all do whatever we can do to completely cool off. And, more often than not, jumping into a large pool and going for a swim always seems like the best option. So, why not do just that? You don’t have to have a pool in your backyard to be able to do this (although, that would help!), you could simply head to your local pool. When the weather gets hot in Tirat Tsvi, all the locals head to the nearest lake to take a dip and cool off. So, why not take a leaf out of their book?

So, think you could survive in one of the hottest places on earth?
