Christmas Tree Cone Cupcakes

This fun and easy Christmas Tree Cone Cupcake recipe uses everyday kitchen staples to create a delicious holiday dessert or snack your family will love.

All you need is:

  • some flour
  • cocoa powder
  • sugar
  • milk
  • vegetable oil
  • hot water
  • an egg
  • salt
  • baking powder
  • vanilla extract
  • sprinkles 
  • a few ice cream cones
  • M&M’s 
  • butter
  • powdered sugar
  • green food coloring

CHRISTMAS TREE CONE CUPCAKE RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

To make the cupcakes, preheat the oven to 320 F (160 C).

Prepare the cupcake molds with cupcake liners and set them aside.

Whisk the egg, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl.

In another bowl add the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt).

Combine the dry ingredients with wet ones and mix until well combined.

Then add the hot water to the batter. The batter will be thin.

Put cake batter into the cupcake liners in the cupcake molds.

Bake the cupcakes for 20 minutes without opening the oven door.

After 20 minutes, test with a toothpick and check if it is baked. Once baked, remove the cupcakes from the oven and cool on a baking rack.

To make the buttercream, use a stand mixer to beat the butter, then add powdered sugar.

Whisk until it gets fluffy and white.

Divide the buttercream into two bowls.

Keep one bowl white to look like snow.

Add the green food coloring to the other half to look like the trees.

Coat the top of the cupcakes with plain buttercream.

  • Close to 7 minutes to make the cupcake batter

No, I suggest only using the buttercream frosting to frost the ice cream cones.

Ingredients

  • For the Cupcakes:
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 6 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • Chocolate sprinkles (for decoration)
  • 10 - 14 cones
  • M&M’s (to put inside)
  • For the Butter Cream:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  • Green food coloring

Instructions

For the Cupcakes

  1. Preheat the oven to 320 F (160 C).
  2. Prepare the Cupcake molds with cupcake sheets.
  3. Whisk the egg, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  4. In another bowl add the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt)

  6. Then add the hot water to the batter. (Batter will be thin)
  7. Put cake batter into the papers that placed in the cupcake molds.
  8. Cook it for 20 minutes without opening it.
  9. Test with toothpick and check if it is cooked and take it out and cool it down.

For butter Cream & Decoration

  1. Beat the butter, then add powdered sugar.
  2. Whisk until it gets fluffy and white.
  3. Divide the butter cream into two. (One half needs to be white)
  4. Add the green food coloring to another half. (Until the desired color)
  5. Coat the top of the cupcakes with butter cream.
  6. Add the M&Ms into each cone and put the cones top of the cupcake.
  7. Then pipe with green butter cream as shape of a tree.
  8. Decorate each cone with chocolate sprinkles.
  9. ENJOY!
