This beautiful holiday wreath cake recipe uses everyday kitchen staples to create a delicious dessert your family will love. You can easily find all of the ingredients to make this cake at your local grocery store.

All you need is:

  • red velvet cake mix 
  • a few eggs 
  • water 
  • vegetable oil 
  • vanilla extract
  • some vanilla or cream cheese frosting 
  • Non-stick spray 
  • buttercream or store-bought frosting 

RED VELVET WREATH CAKE RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

Begin by spraying the cake donut pan with non-stick spray and set aside.

To the bowl of a stand mixer, add the cake mix, oil, water, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well incorporated.

Bake at 350 for 35-40 mins.

Let the cake cool completely.

Cut off any excess cake with a serrated knife.

Release the cake from the cake pan. 

Wrap the cake in plastic wrap and freeze for 4-6 hours.

Be sure to freeze the cake to eliminate having crumbs in your frosting.

Remove the cake from the freezer, unwrap and place the cake on a cake board.

Take the premade buttercream frosting and dye it green to your desired shade.

Frost the sides of the cake in the green buttercream.

Add the remaining green buttercream to a piping bag fitted with a triple star tip.

Add star-stop decoration around the top of the cake giving it texture.

Sprinkle some sprinkles all over the cake. Make sure to add sprinkles immediately after piping stars to the top of the cake.

For the bow, I used ribbon and glue dots to hold them together just for presentation.

Remove before serving.

In less than an hour, you’ll have a cheerful holiday dessert that’s sure to become a new favorite!
