Meringue is easy to make and this recipe requires you to pipe the meringue into simple shapes like a Christmas tree.

The older kids can help to pipe the meringue into fun shapes.

The hard part is waiting for the meringues to slowly bake at a low temperature and then not opening the oven door as they are allowed to harden inside the oven.

This fun and easy Christmas Meringue Pops recipe uses everyday kitchen staples to create a delicious dessert or snack your family will love over the holidays.

All you need is:

  • some egg whites
  • pinch of salt
  • caster sugar
  • vanilla extract 
  • a few food colorings
  • colorful decorations
  • some sticks

Preheat the oven to 110 C / 230 F.

Using a stand mixer, whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until it gets fluffy.

When the egg whites get fluffy, slowly add the caster sugar and continue whisking.

Add the vanilla extract to this step.

You are done when the egg whites look like a big solid foam, hang onto the beater without dripping. and there are no sugar crumbs in the mixture.

Divide the meringue into three cups.

Add red food coloring to one cup, green food coloring to another cup.

Leave one cup plain.

Place the parchment paper on a baking tray.

Place sticks on the parchment paper where you want to pipe the Christmas trees.

Place each cup of the meringue into piping bags.

Next, pipe the mixture on top of the sticks.

Pipe the mixture into shapes like Christmas trees and Santa’s hat.

Since this recipe lasts so long you can make them ahead of time to be ready for the holidays.

I suggest sticking with simple shapes like squares to look like gift boxes, a reindeer’s face, Santa’s face, candy canes, etc.

You can create as many colors as you want.

Place some meringue into a cup and dye it using food dye to your desired color.

Yes, you can easily make Christmas Meringue Pops a few weeks ahead to save time prepping for the holidays.

These meringues can either be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 months or in the freezer for up to 1 month.

Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites, at room temperature
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract or 1 package vanillin powder
  • Food colorings
  • Colorful decorations
  • 13-20 sticks

Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until it gets fluffy
  2. When the egg whites get fluffy, add the caster sugar at 3 times and continue whisking.
  3. Add the vanilla extract to this step.
  4. The important criteria for the egg whites are, to become solid, to hang in the beater, and to avoid sugar crumbs when you touch them.
  5. When the meringue mixture turns into a bright and giant foam, divide them into three cups and add the red and green food colorings to the meringue mixture.
  6. Put the parchment paper on a baking tray, put the sticks, and pipe the mixture on top of it
  7. Decorate them as you wish.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven (110 C / 230 F) for 1.5 hours.
  9. After cooking, let it rest for 1 hour until it gets hard without opening the oven door.
  10. ENJOY!
