The Only Checklist You Need When Pulling Off A Neighborhood Garden Party

Now that the bulk of the winter season is out of the way, most of us are looking forward to spring and summer. Lighter evenings, warmer weather and longer days tend to put most of us in a much better mood, and many people feel revitalized as soon as the seasons start to change. Summer can also mean the chance to inject a lot more fun into our lives, what with summer vacations and long school holidays on the horizons for many families. So, why not relish the notion of a particularly sunny day and start to plan your own al-fresco event? Entertaining outdoors rather than indoors has grown in popularity in recent years. There is more space, so you can have a larger guest list than you could if you were limited the evening to your home – and you don’t have to worry about things getting broken in the house. Plus, there is just something fun and lively about entertaining in your back yard. Those hot summer days might be a while off yet, but there’s no reason why you can’t start planning now. Here are the things you will need to decide on to pull off the best summer party your neighborhood has ever seen.

Decide what kind of food you will serve

Typically, there are two options available for al-fresco dinner parties: a buffet or a BBQ. Having a set meal around a table is usually too complicated, especially if you have a lot of guests round at once. If you are going to provide a buffet, make sure you inform your guests of any distinguishing features between the food you will serve hot and the food you will serve cold (the hot food will usually go first). If you don’t mind cooking there and then, rather than preparing in advance, a BBQ is a great option for outdoor entertaining. Take some of the pressure off yourself by getting a piece of kit that can do some of the work for you, such as https://electricsmokercenter.com/masterbuilt-electric-smoker-reviews/.

Decide what to do if it rains

Typically, just as the big day comes around, the sky clouds over and it starts to rain. This can be pretty disheartening and unless you are prepared, you may need to rearrange your whole plans. But it doesn’t have to be this way – simply cover your back by providing some shelter in the form of a marquee or gazebo. You may as well put it up even if the weather looks like it’s going to hold out, as it will provide shade for those who want to cool off too.

Decide on your entertainment

Garden parties are a great time to indulge in some fun entertainment with family or friends. You can either hire entertainment, such as a bouncy castle for the kids who are there, or invent it yourself. With all the space a back yard provides, why not set up a game of rounders or baseball, or install a slip and slide for guaranteed laughs?
