3. Visit Southwick’s Zoo
Southwick’s Zoo is a sizeable zoo considering the area. It covers more than 200 acres (bring your walking shoes) and boasts more than 850 animals. The animals are housed in thoughtful natural habitats, and include exotic species like white rhinos, aoudads, blue-throated macaws, leopard tortoises and tarantulas. There are plenty of seasonal festivals, so check out what’s going on while you’re in town.
4. Enjoy the Outdoors at Blackstone River and Canal State Park
Spend a few hours at Blackstone River and Canal State Park on a pleasant day, and you’ll be refreshed. The picturesque river and canal provide a relaxing setting, which you’re able to walk along or sit beside. Many benches are available along the walkway, ensuring you’ll always be able to find a place to rest your feet.
5. Mendon Drive-In
Go to the movies in old-fashioned style at the Mendon Drive-In. Choose a parking spot, get some snacks at the concessions, and tune the radio. You can also bring your own snacks if you have some favorite goodies. There are two screens, one of which tends to be more family-friendly. Both regularly show double features.
