Are you frustrated with your kids’ schools because they’re not preparing them for the real world? If so, you’re certainly not alone.
Only 10% of parents are very confident that their child’s school is preparing them for life after the classroom, according to a new survey from Tuttle Twins.
But the back-to-school season is the perfect time to prepare to fill those gaps left in their education — and there’s a nice Tuttle Twins discount right now to help you do just that!

Mind the Gap: Financial Literacy a Top Concern for Parents
In the Tuttle Twins survey, real-world skills like financial literacy and critical thinking consistently ranked high among the subjects parents want their kids’ schools to teach more of, with 59% of parents wanting more lessons on financial literacy and 56% calling for more teaching around critical thinking.
Seventy-five percent of parents said budgeting and money management are the most important life skills for children to learn.
Parents aren’t just sitting on their hands when it comes to their kids’ education. They’re taking matters into their own hands when it comes to filling these important gaps.
First, they’re having discussions at home about the topics they feel are most important. In fact, 83% of parents talk to their kids about money and budgeting.
More than 70% of parents are talking about current news and events, while 65% are warning about online misinformation. Almost half of parents talk about the role of government — while 58% of parents believe the government has too much control over what their kids learn in school.

Other Ways Parents Are Filling the Gaps
In addition to discussions at home, parents are also taking other steps to fill in the gaps left by public or private schools. Sixty-seven percent of them are using curriculum programs or books to teach real-world principles like financial literacy.
Fifty-seven percent are using educational YouTube channels or podcasts, while 55% are tapping online learning platforms.
Almost half use board games or educational games, and 22% are using religious or values-based content.
