My main form of exercise is walking. I like to walk my dog at night because it’s quiet and peaceful. But doing so comes with its risks. Walking at night can be dangerous. There aren’t many people around. It’s dark. Many times it feels like something scary is more likely to happen. I do carry a metal bar with me. I also carry pepper spray as my defense tool. However, with sprays you always have to be careful that they don’t hit you, such as when you are downwind from the spray. If you are downwind, you may incapacitate yourself. The metal bar is protective, but sometimes a hindrance (especially when trying to handle a 70-pound dog that doesn’t always walk well on his leash).
