A GUIDE ON DIFFERENT BABY COTS ALONG WITH THEIR ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

Nowadays, there are so many different baby cot options that parents tend to get confused as to what the best option for their child is. However, worry no more! Today, we’ll be discussing four different types of baby cots to help you make your decision.

So without further ado, let’s go!

STANDARD BABY COTS

Standard baby cribs are the traditional and evergreen option. The best part about standard traditional cots is that they look good in all shapes and sizes and they’re available in the same way as well. Their popularity is so high that you can find even the strangest materials, even if you wanted something unconventional like a beech wood cot.

Standard cots are the cheapest, easiest to build, and are the most durable cots you can buy. There’s a reason that your grandfather’s baby cot is still usable and a family heirloom even after so many decades of being locked away in his attic. The only drawbacks are that they don’t come with a lot of gimmicks and are simply a comfortable place for your baby to sleep. They also tend to be heavy and difficult to move around.

CONVERTIBLE COTS

As the name implies, these cribs can be converted into other pieces of furniture as your baby grows. Your cot could convert into a day bed, a small sofa, or a double bed. There are some cots that convert into multiple forms of furniture as well.

While convertible cots are cost-effective, as you don’t need to spend money on other pieces of furniture, it is going to be really expensive. Also, there are a lot of moving parts that join together and come apart, meaning you have to keep all parts well-oiled and maintained. You’d also be limited on choice, meaning your cot may not match with your intended theme, and the style could get outdated fast.

PORTABLE COT

Portable cots are best if you are limited on space in your home. They also provide a lot of convenience by letting you move the cot from one room to another, allowing you to monitor your baby at all times. Most of these cots are on wheels, so make sure your model comes with reliable brakes to keep the cot in one place and prevent injuries.

However, you won’t be spoiled for choice as there are limited design options. The mattresses are also folding, which means they’re not long-lasting and you’ll be spending again and again on the mattress.

TRAVEL COTS

Travel cots are amazing for convenience! They can easily fold and be put into a bag for easy transportation. The material is also lightweight, allowing you to carry with ease and the assembly procedure is also simple to follow.

However, these cots are not meant to be used long term as their durability is not long-lasting, and for long term use, they will not provide the most comfort to your baby. You should only use travel cots for the purpose they were made, which is traveling. At all other times, stick to the other types of cots we’ve mentioned above.
