Wilderness at the Smokies and the New WALL Waterslide

My family and I love to travel and one place we love to visit is Tennessee. Recently we had the opportunity to visit Wilderness at the Smokies and check out their new Outdoor Water park Ride The Wall. Let me tell you we were really excited!

We have stayed at the Wilderness at the Smokies on two to other occasions and this is by far our favorite resort in TN. The Wilderness at the Smokies is located in Sevierville, TN. It’s an amazing-looking water park resort and hotel. They have Two restaurants, The Hidden Bar & Grill and The Thirsty Miner. They also Have Four snack Bars located throughout the resort, Grizzly’s Grill, Coyote Cove, Bluegill’s Cove and Billy Jacks Snack Shack. Let me not forget for the tired guest, who after a long day at the water park Wilderness At The Smokies offers In-Room Dining.

This stay we had a Bunk Suite. It was enough room for us and it had everything we would need for a stay away from home. One queen bed, one twin/queen bunk bed, one twin sofa sleeper. We had an awesome balcony, 2 televisions a microwave, refrigerator and a coffeemaker. As always check in was really easy and the staff are so friendly and helpful!

The Wilderness at the Smokies has not one BUT three water parks. The Wild Waterdome and Lake Wilderness were connected to the lodge our room was located in. Salamander Springs is up the hill a bit at the other lodge. The Wild Waterdome is an indoor park which fills a 66,000 square foot, state of the art building. The Dome is indoors and that means you can enjoy it’s pools and slides in any weather. They have a slide for everyone. From the scream inducing Storm Chaser to the family friendly Runaway Canyon.

What we were really excited about was the new water ride The Wall located at the Lake Wilderness outdoor water-park. Here, you will find the Wild Vortex slide where you free fall almost 39 feet and fly around a loop at up to 40 mph! Not up to generating g-force? Grab a tube and meander around Cataloochie Creek. This lazy river is so relaxing and run at the same time. Need something in between? Visit Washout Rapids wave pool or the Cyclone Racer for a little family fun.

The Wall is amazing! Guests will start their adventure atop a 60-foot tower, where riders will board a two-person raft with a daring friend or family member to start the ultimate combination of sensations – rafting, drops, a shot of weightlessness and “going vertical.” The thrilling water slide takes riders on a wild-water “raft ride” that begins with a shoot up the start of The Wall, then propelled 35 feet back up a vertical wall. Riders then pause before a steep drop down to experience one last thrill – a jolt of weightlessness over a tall transition hump at 40 feet per second before launching into a splashdown pool below. A water flow of 1,500 gallons per minute adds more fuel to the wet fun of this high-speed water experience.

This ride is exhilarating! The riders of The Wall will experience a reversed free-fall 35 feet high and then accelerate over a six-foot high transition hump to over 40 feet/second before the finish, doesn’t that sound like so much fun? Well let me tell you, it is!

There is just so much to do when you visit Wilderness at the Smokies. if it is raining you can still have fun at the indoor water park and Adventure Forest. You can also dine at one of the restaurants they have or just stay in and order room service. It has the best of everything you can look for when your deciding to go on vacation.
