The Toothless Puppy A Tale of Differences

Teaching children about differences is very important. As a special needs parent, I know first hand how hard it is to have a child that is different. I see him struggle with his peers because sadly, not everyone teaches their children this lesson. Many just aren’t sure how, or don’t think about it. The Toothless Puppy A Tale of Differences is a precious story, that’s perfect to teach children that everyone isn’t the same.

The Toothless Puppy

Campbell is a happy, little Golden Retriever puppy. One morning while drinking some water, she notices her reflection in her dish. She’s missing a tooth! Campbell attempts to go about her day and do the things that make her happy. But she can’t help feeling different now, and she doesn’t like it.

Campbell decides that she should go looking for her missing tooth. Along the way she meets up with other animals. First she meets up with Hudson, and when she tells him what’s wrong, he proceeds to tell her that being different is okay. Next she meets up with Annabelle the pony. Annabelle points out that she too is different, but in a different way. Instead of missing a tooth, she is missing a shoe. Next Annabelle sees Wilco. Upon telling him she lost her tooth, he tells her that he can relate. Wilco is missing his tail, so he knows all about being different.

It’s okay to be different

Annabelle goes about her journey, meeting up with other animals that are different too. She learns that EVERYONE is different in some way, and that it’s okay. This is book will make a wonderful addition to your children’s books. I also think it’s perfect for classrooms too. Young children will love the colorful pictures and the story. Teachers can use it as a tool to teach. My son especially loves the quote that is repeated throughout the story. ” You are who you are, and that’s the truth! You are who you are, and you don’t need proof!”
