The Road Less Traveled: 8 of the Most Incredible RV Destinations in the US

Summer is right around the corner and if you are making plans to head out into the great outdoors in your RV, you are in the right place. We are going to share some of the most incredible RV destinations to add to your bucket list.

Keep reading for our top 8 spots.

  1. Acadia National Park

This is a beautiful national park located on the coast of Maine. There are unlimited activities from biking to canoeing to hiking. You can also catch some of the most magical sunrises if you are an early riser.

If you have a hard time finding full hookups available inside the national park, our recommendation is to choose an RV park right outside the national park with hookups. There are some RV parks that are close enough they have free shuttles available to bring you into Acadia National Park, and they run all day during the season.

Make sure you take a look at Leisurelandrvcenter.com if you want to upgrade your RV or buy your first RV before you head out on your road trip.

  1. Williamsburg, VA

If you love history then this is a place to add to your bucket list. The little town of Williamsburg is packed with historical sites and attractions. You can check out things like the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, the Jamestown settlement, and the Yorktown Battlefield.

There are plenty of RV campgrounds in the area to choose from. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding one for your getaway.

  1. Moab, UT

If you have never thought of Utah as a vacation destination, you are not alone. Utah is a hidden gem and trust us you might not want to leave this beautiful state once you go visit. The town of Moab is so accommodating to RVs there are businesses that offer free dump stations and free drinking water!

Moab has views for days (make sure you have your cameras ready to go). While you are in Moab take the time to visit Arches National Park where you can go explore, bike, hike, and camp.

  1. Florida Keys

During the winter months while everyone is dealing with snow, why not spend Christmas in the most southern part of the United States? The Keys have sunshine and warm weather year-round.

You can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing in this tropical water wonderland. There are plenty of campgrounds in the area along with plenty of attractions to keep you busy.

The Everglades National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park, and Biscayne National Park are all nearby. The hardest part will be choosing where to go if your time is limited.

  1. Grand Canyon National Park

Who hasn’t seen the Grand Canyon in a movie and said “wow”? If you have never seen it in person then make sure to add this destination to your bucket list. This is one of the most breathtaking national parks because it is so unique.

The beauty of the canyon is indescribable you have to go see it for yourself. Like all the other national parks make sure you enjoy at least one hike. There are limited RV campgrounds in the national park so make sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

  1. Glacier National Park

This is another national park that made it to our list, but honestly, every national park is beautiful. Glacier national park is so up north that even in the summer months it stays a little cold. The mountains are topped with snow all year, make sure to have those cameras ready for some selfies.

There is hiking for days in Glacier. They have 734 miles of hiking trails for you to explore. Make sure to make reservations in an RV campground ahead of time to make sure they have availability.

If you are set up for dry camping there are a couple of boondocking or dry camping spots in the area as well.

  1. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone is actually the oldest national park in the entire country. The entire park has plenty of unique features such as a collection of hydrothermal waters. The hot waters allow for life to continue and thrive in the middle of winter under a thick layer of snow.

Another unique feature of this park is that it has the largest supervolcano on the continent. There are endless crystal clear waters to enjoy and take in their beauty. You will more than likely also spot a grizzly bear or two during your visit.

There are a few RV campgrounds to choose from. Mammoth Hot Springs Campground is open year-round if you decide to come during the off-season. If you come during the summer be prepared to deal with more people.

  1. Zion National Park

This national park is another one that you have to go see at least once during your lifetime. The sandstone cliffs that tower over you are so unique you need to see them for yourself. While you are checking out Zion, take some time to also explore the slot canyons.
