Not everyone likes to travel for Spring Break. With so many people out on the roads, at airports, and frequenting all the popular tourist attractions, it might not even be fun to travel to your favorite destination this time of year. Some people opt to “staycation” instead, and visit those touristy places in the off season.
Or maybe this year you have a medical issue, or some other type of emergency that keeps you home. Perhaps you’re just saving up for a big summer trip instead. Whatever the reasons you decide to staycation, here is how you can do it in style.
A staycation is when you stay home and plan a mini vacation instead of leaving home / the town / the state / the country / etc. You might decide to leave home but participate in activities that are within driving distance but sleep in your own bed at night, or you might decide to completely stay home for the entire staycation. It’s all about what YOU want. It all begins with proper planning.
First, you need to decide on a theme. Will you be staycationing alone or with family or a loved one? Will you be spending the staycation with your college roomies or friends? Knowing who will be participating is a good first step.
Next, you need to factor in where you live. What’s the weather like here? If you’re up north, it might still be cold. If you’re in the south, it could be beach weather already. The weather doesn’t have to deter you because you can plan a staycation inside or out, but it will help you determine what theme to use and what activities to plan.
Then, all you need to do is form your plan and gather any supplies, food, or tickets you might need for your planned events. If you really want to do your spring break staycation in style, you can decorate your home or apartment in the theme of your staycation. Want a Hawaii vacation without leaving home? Decorate your place in Hawaii style! Want a winter holiday theme? Decorate your house no matter what the temperature outdoors. That’s the beauty of the staycation; you can make it completely yours.
