Slime: The New Way To Have Fun With Your Time

Slime1

Slime is the new fad, if you haven’t already noticed!  If you go on YouTube you can find a ton of videos featuring this gooey stuff.  The videos are super mesmerizing and weirdly calming, and most of them are just videos of people manipulating various slimes and making sounds that are irresistibly fun to listen to. Well, you too can make your own slime and experience the new fad.  And, to help you, there’s a cool recipe book called “Slime Sorcery: 97 Magical Concoctions Made from Almost Anything—Including Fluffy, Galaxy, Crunchy, Magnetic, Color-Changing and Glow-in-the-Dark Slime,” by Adam Vandergrift.  This book shows you tons of cool and innovative recipes.  Mr. Vandergrift also has his own YouTube channel, and, as of this writing, he has over 900,000 subscribers.

Recipes Can Make It More Fun

People in my family have been making slime for a while now and, from what I’ve seen, it really helps to have a recipe to ensure your product doesn’t dry out too fast and to make sure it has a fun consistency.  Vandergrift’s book will provide you with tons of recipes for a super fun time.  His book is very creative in coming up with some very interesting and fun concoctions, including slime that looks like cereal or some that changes colors.  This book even provides edible recipes, which I think would be really cool for kids to make!

The recipes are easy to follow.  Many of them include ingredients you can find at home (but some do have some specialized ingredients that you may have to go buy).  This book will provide your child (or you) hours of creative fun and entertainment.  And, it’s fun for both boys and girls. This book would even be perfect for planning a birthday party!  Everyone could take home their recipe  they made as a birthday favor.

The book also talks about the history and science of slime (perfect for STEM projects and science experiments). It has sections on FAQs and safety (I’ve learned from experience, don’t put slime on the rug.) The author even addresses how to fix slime that doesn’t have the right consistency, which can be an issue (especially if your concoction is sticking to everything).

So check out the book and the author’s YouTube channel for some interesting fun ideas!  You can see for yourself why this fad is taking off and providing kids with tons of creative fun.
