The Easy Tutorial

When making origami flowers, prepare all your needed materials before starting the step-by-step process so that it will be easy for you to access all your materials if you need them.

Be sure that all you need is on your table and you don’t need to go to another place to find the missing material.

If everything is in place, grab your origami paper, and you can start folding those papers and have fun.

Instructions for the Waterbomb Base

Make use of a square of paper. Start with a square piece of paper that is the same length on all sides for most origami designs. You can purchase specialty origami paper at most craft stores, or you can use art paper.

  • Start by placing the colored side up; traditional origami paper has a colored one and a white one.
  • Fold your paper in half from top to bottom and from left to right. This bomb base should form the shape of a cross that runs through the middle of your paper.
  • For best results, crease the paper completely along the seam of the fold, regardless of what type of paper you are using.
  • Then fold the paper in half from bottom to top after giving it a good crease. Fold an X on the backside.
  • Turn the paper so that the reverse side is facing up. Like your previously folded cross, the lines of the X you will fold will pass through the center of your paper.
  • To accomplish this, you must fold the bottom right corner into the upper left corner; crease the fold well, and unfold the crease; fold the bottom left corner into the upper right corner; crease the fold well, and collapse the sides to form a triangle; then finish off the base.

Instruction for the Tulip Bulb

  • Fold the piece of paper into the shape of a diamond with the bottom tip facing you when you’ve finished the fold.
  • Fold the outside wing to line up with the center fold. Find the right corner and fold it until it lines up with the center crease.
  • Then repeat this folding process in the left corner and repeat this fold for the two flaps on the right side.
  • Join the opposite side and flap together. The flaps you need to fold on both sides to meet in the middle should have slightly different edges.
  • One side should have a fold of the paper, creating a kind of pocket, and the other should have the open-sided tips of your folded paper.
  • Join the folded papers by tucking the open-ended edge into the space pocket for the rightward-facing flap.
  • Keep a tight grip on this seam since air can readily escape from it. Put your lips in the middle of the X-shaped base of your tulip bulb and slowly inhale until it feels fully inflated.
  • For a realistic impression, peel back the petals of your tulip. You may wish to create your petals for impact.
  • You can keep your petals uncreased and gently pushed back from the tip of your tulip bulb to provide a more natural appearance.
  • Peel these petals back approximately 1/4 of the way down from above, where each petal comes to a point.
