Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle: 5 Steps

Maintaining a healthy life is crucial at every age of our lives. Our bodies are unique and wonderfully made, so much so they can also heal themselves. There are a few lifestyle changes and eating habits to adopt that will help make living healthily easier.

1. Laugh A Lot

It may sound strange or as though it doesn’t belong in this post, but the truth is, laughing is very good for our health. Laughing helps to increase hormones like dopamine and serotonin, which help our bodies in many ways. Dopamine is associated with feeling satisfied, motivated, and pleasurable. Serotonin regulates sleep, wound healing, sexual desire, and blood clotting function. Laughing boosts these hormones, and the brain sends signals so the body can produce them, and thus we feel so good while laughing and after a good laugh. It’s said that laughing therapy may help reduce stressful feelings and lower stress hormones.

2. Get Your Wardrobe Organized

While you may not also consider organizing things to be a healthy choice, it is. You may notice that when your clothing closet is unorganized and untidy that it feels more stressful to find an outfit to wear. Making a simple change in organizing your wardrobe can alter this for you and make it easier and stress-free to find your clothes for any occasion. Did you know that 57% of people say having an organized closet would make finding clothing easier?

3. Exercise Regularly

Sometimes, the media can negatively affect our mental well-being and self-image, which often leads to people desiring cosmetic surgery and other alterations. The Aesthetic Society said that the number of tummy tuck procedures grew by 49% from 2020 to 2021. As more and more people perceive certain looks as the epitome of beauty, it often comes at a cost. Not only are cosmetic procedures expensive, but they also won’t necessarily make someone with body dysmorphia feel better. Cosmetic procedures may also have negative side effects.

Doing exercise could help you get your body in shape if you want to lose a few kilos and even if you want to build muscle definition. Core exercises will eliminate the need for a tummy tuck, giving you a healthier option for losing tummy fat than going under the knife. Regular exercise is good for your physique and helps you sleep better and improve your mental wellness since exercise increases the “happy hormones” we’ve mentioned earlier. Remember, exercise doesn’t have to be hardcore gym workouts. You can have a 10-minute walk every day, or you may choose to swim, cycle, dance, or do stretches via yoga routines or qi gong, which is low impact

4. Hydration Matters

On your journey to a healthy life, consider staying hydrated. Our bodies are made up of more water than blood. Adult humans have about 60% of water in their bodies which is essential for cell repair, temperature control, and joint lubrication, to name a few. Drinking clear liquid like water is crucial for hydration every day. Yes, you can have fruit juice, but it may be ladened with sugar and even artificial flavors. Reduce the soda and high caffeinated drinks. As lots of sugary and caffeine drinks can spike blood sugar levels and cause the body to deplete energy faster as it cannot break down other sugars that are not natural.

5. Enjoy Healthy Conversations and Company

Negative people and negative conversations can negatively impact a person’s well-being and hinder your goals of a healthy life. Negativity causes stress and emotional upset leading to many things and even becoming physically ill. Some couples divorce because they don’t communicate and are unhappy together. Still, some statistics suggest most people marry again after three years of divorce. Either way, communication is critical to a good and healthy relationship.
