This fun and easy Lorax Truffula Tree recipe uses everyday kitchen staples to create a delicious dessert or snack your family will love.

You can easily find all of these ingredients at your local grocery store or through online stores like Amazon.

All you need is:

  • electric or neon gel food coloring
  • candy melts (in every color you want to make) 
  • shredded coconut 
  • some large marshmallows

Begin by adding shredded coconut to small ziplock bags with one drop of gel food coloring and seal the bag.

Shake and squeeze the color throughout the bag coating all of the coconut flakes.

Pour into small bowls and let the coconut flakes air dry.

Next, melt the candy coating according to package directions. While melting the chocolate take care not to burn it.

Slide the paper straws into one end of the marshmallows, gently, as to not break the straw.

If using lollipop sticks, dip the stick into chocolate first then insert it into the marshmallow.

Allow about 4- 5 mins for the chocolate to dry. Dip the marshmallows into the melted chocolate.

Gently shake off the excess. Roll the chocolate-dipped marshmallows into the corresponding color of coconut flakes.

Let the Lorax Truffula Trees air dry for 15-20 mins.

HOW LONG DOES IT REALLY TAKE TO MAKE TRUFFULA TREES?

Since this recipe uses simple ingredients you can make it quickly. This Lorax Truffula Tree recipe takes approximately 43 minutes if you are making a large batch. TOTAL. This includes:

  • About 3 minutes to fill bags with coconut flakes and add food dye 
  • Close to 10 minutes to shake and squeeze the color all over the coconut flakes and allow to air dry
  • Around 5 minutes to dip the marshmallows into the melted chocolate
  • 25 minutes to dip the chocolate-coated marshmallows into the coconut flakes and allow to dry

You can store Lorax Truffula Trees in an airtight container in a cool place for up to 2 weeks.

You can use either sweetened or unsweetened coconut shreds to make this recipe.

Sweetened shredded coconut will add extra sweetness to this treat. 

CAN I USE LARGE COCONUT FLAKES TO MAKE LORAX TRUFFULA TREES?

Yes, you can use any size of shredded coconut to make this Truffula Tree recipe.

The finer shredded coconut will adhere to the marshmallows easier than the large shredded coconut.

No matter what size you use, it’ll still taste great and be a fun treat for your children. 

WHAT ELSE CAN I ADD TO THIS TRUFFULA TREE RECIPE?

This fun Lorax Truffula Tree recipe not only tastes great, but it’s also incredibly versatile.

Ingredients

  • Candy Melts, in every color you want to make

Instructions

Notes

Most times when melting candy melts, I will melt on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat, two to three times.

Stirring in between is super important even when it doesn’t look like the candy is melting, it is.

The residual heat will also melt the candy when you stir it the last time until smooth.
