Great Bird Watching Kit for Kids

Great Bird Watching Kit for Kids

I don’t know how your children feel about being outside in nature, but thankfully, mine have always loved it.  Now that they have grown up, I play with my granddaughter outside.  She loves watching all kinds of animals.  Whether its squirrels, dogs in the neighborhood, or even birds, she is definitely a future bird watcher in the making.   She was so excited when I let her try out this wonderful bird watching kit that I received.  It came with a pair of binoculars (with a strap), two beautiful books and a colorful guide to compare birds.  She absolutely loved it!

The first book (and kit) is called PBS KIDS Look and Learn Birds by Sarah Parvis.  It’s full of great information and the pictures are absolutely gorgeous!  This is the perfect kit for your beginners because it comes with everything they will need.

I also received Science with Stuff: Bird-Acious by Melissa Stewart.  This is filled with beautiful photos, great facts, and even a sanitized owl pellet that kids can dissect.  Your kids will learn so much as they read or even just look at the pictures.  There are birds in these books that I had never heard of.  It taught this old dog some new tricks!

Last, but certainly not least, Into the Field Guide: A Walk in the Woods by Emily Laber-Warren and Into the Field Guide: A Walk on the Beach by Laurie Goldman.  These portable field guides are so convenient and kids will completely enjoy using them.  What a great way to teach your children about nature!

The Great Backyard Bird Count

The great backyard bird count is a wonderful way to see where certain birds come from.  Bird watchers of all ages count birds and keep track of them.  The next bird count begins February 16th and runs through February 19th.  It is a fun, educational thing to do with your family.  You can click on the link to learn more about it.

If you would like to purchase your own kit, books, and/or guides you can simply click on the links.  Watching nature is actually NOT for the birds!
