Family Game Night Holiday Style

We’re a family of gamers. From video games, to board games, to card games. We love games! The holidays are coming and that means we do Family Game Night Holiday Style. Are you ready to get into the spirit? If so, read on!

Family Game Night Holiday Style

I’m always on the look out for new games to have fun with my family. We have weekly game nights, and then every year, we host Christmas Eve, which we turn into a giant family game night! Up until recently we’ve made our own games (which I will tell you about.) However, I just found a new Christmas card game that I had to have for my kids. It’s called 12 Days!

12 Days by Calliope Games

Celebrate the spirit of Christmas, and the joy of giving gifts to those in your life with this fun, new game. 12 Days is a beautifully illustrated card game that’s perfect for the whole family. Ages eight and up will enjoy collecting cards, and “giving gifts” and trying to win. The entire game takes about fifteen or so minutes to play and can accommodate three to five players.

We got our 12 Days game today. Liam was stoked to open it up. We both love the pictures on them. They remind me of stained glass. Each one represents the twelve days just like in the song. That means there’s eleven lords a leaping, nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, and so on. There’s even Mr. and Mrs Claus! Game play is fairly simple and I think kids about six or seven could even play. To get yours, click here. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Our DIY games

Every Christmas Eve we play games. It’s so much fun with my parents and siblings and their spouses. Liam’s favorite game is our Christmas Draw game. We take index cards and write holiday movies, foods, songs, and more on them. Then we fold them up and put them in a stocking. We split into two teams, and each turn one person from a team draws while the rest try to guess. We don’t keep score, we just have fun!

Last year we also had one of the mouth guard games. So again, we used index cards, and wrote holiday themed sentences, and then had fun trying to guess what everyone was saying. Do you play holiday games? If so, what do you play?

Hi Courtney! Thanks for taking a look at our game and thanks for enjoying it. In case you have not seen it, one of our other games, Tsuro-The Game of the Path, was mentioned in a Psychology Today article. The Counselor who wrote the piece uses Tsuro in his work with teens on the autism spectrum. It was a good read and was gratifying to hear that one of our games was able to both entertain and help. The article is at:
