Easiest Ways To Bring Your Pet On Vacation

The holidays are approaching, and as exciting as this might sound like, they can be agonizing for the rest of us who don’t want to leave our furry friends behind. For many people, our pets are our families and the thought of traveling alone without them by our sides is enough to kill the enthusiasm. If you are planning your vacation by whether your pet (or pets) are allowed and welcomed. There are a few things to plan ahead, from finding a hotel that will welcome your pets, searching for a near animal hospital just to be ready, to the way you are bringing your pet along. Today, we will be discussing the easiest ways for your furry friends to tag along during your vacation.

A road Trip

Driving is the best option to consider to be sure of your pet’s comfort if you can travel by car. However, you would need to ensure their safety as well. For example, while your dog might enjoy the fresh air by sticking their heads outside the window, it might not be the safest option for them to be riding like this. Installing a crate for your dog in the back seat is the ideal way for you both to enjoy your road trip together; not only for their safety but for yours as well. Car rides for cats, on the other hand, might not be their favorite. So, you should keep them in well-restrained carriers, it’s also better to support the carrier by the seat belt to ensure that road bumps will not hurt your little kitten.

Airlines

Traveling by plane will not be the best option for some cat and dog breeds; bulldogs, pugs and Persian cats, for example, have shorter nasal passages which leave them more vulnerable to heat stroke and oxygen deprivation. If you ran out of alternatives, and you must travel by plane for your vacation, it’s recommended to consult a vet to help you weigh all the risks. Find the right airline that meets your standards when it comes to your pet’s health considering these great options for carrying your pet without risking their comfort. Some airlines will even allow your pet to accompany you in your cabin for an additional fee, which can be better for you and your pet.

By ship

It comes as no surprise that most cruise ships will not allow pets except for assistance dogs. If you are going on a cruise, make sure that the cruise line will welcome your pets before you do your calculations only to find out later that you can’t take your loyal friend with you. If the cruise line allows pets, you need to ensure of their policies and kennel facilities. And don’t forget to check on your pets regularly to make sure that they are comfortable and well.

Don’t Forget To Make A list

We know that vacations can be stressful and loaded with a lot of decisions that you need to make. Sometimes, the right choice is to leave your pet with a pet sitter to make sure they are happier and healthier this way. However, if you have decided that there is no way you are leaving them behind, you need to make a list of the things that you need to take care of. Not only, that a list will help you to be more organized and to remember everything, but it will spare you the feeling of being overwhelmed.
