Books For Babies and Toddlers

Baby and Toddler Books Make Great Gifts for the Holidays

When my children were little I loved reading and singing to them at bedtime.  I started reading to them as babies to bond and get a consistent routine going.  As babies, they can’t understand what you’re reading, but they love the time you spend with them.  Toddlers are the same.  Every child loves time with the ones they love, it makes them feel special.  If you’re ready to read to your little ones, may I suggest Matthew Boyd’s books?  They are short, sweet, and beautifully illustrated (by him).

The four little books that I received are What Would I Do To Make Sure You’re Not Blue, The World In A Rainbow, I Think The Cows Are Racing, and Your Smile Has A Window.  As I said earlier, they’re all written and illustrated by Matthew Boyd.  The books are easy to understand and read.  This is nice if you have an early reader or if they can’t read yet, they can always memorize some of the words.  I know my granddaughter used to do that before she was able to read.  They feel so independent when they contribute while you’re reading to them.

Your Smile Has A Window

In the book, Your Smile Has A Window, the big sister loses her tooth before little sis and the little sister isn’t too happy about that.  As a matter of fact, little sis decides to steal the tooth!  Have no fear though, the tooth fairy knows and sees everything.  She sets it all straight by the end and I like the way the author told her (big sis) to give her little sis a hug, even though she stole from her.  It is written in a rhyming format, which I absolutely love.  I also love the unique way of looking at losing a tooth by calling it a window in your smile.  The book teaches kids to be nice and, of course, not to steal.  However, it also has a place in the back to keep track of your child’s lost teeth.

All of the books are heartfelt and any child would love listening to them.  Do you know what kids like as gifts?  Yes, books!
