“Beary Great” Family Night “

Paddington tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined -until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rare talking bear catches the eye of a museum taxidermist. The film features an entirely computer-generated bear who interacts with a cast of esteemed actors.

This was one of my children’s favorite bears growing up; we would watch him all the time. The movie opens, and we see a bit of old footage showing a man by the name of Montgomery Clyde who is exploring Peru. He soon comes across two bears, and upon further realization, he soon discovers that they not only can talk, but they also have taken a liking to the fruit preserve marmalade. Montgomery decides to name the bears Pastuzo and Lucy and years later Lucy and Pastuzo are shown to be taking care of their nephew. After Lucy later sends their nephew off to London, he is struggling to find shelter until a chance meeting with the Brown family changes everything.

My younger nieces and nephews love this movie, and of course my Devon does, he gets a kick out of it and all the adventures he gets into. Paddington may just bump into you one day and say “Hello”! Though don’t be upset if you never see him, at times the bear is in a rush, but I can assure you he will be grateful for your kindness. There is one thing for sure, he is always the polite bear.
