Ah, Frankfurt, the city where you can keep exploring different places and never get tired!

Did you know that in 2020, the number of nights spent here by domestic and international visitors was around 2.7 and 1.4 million respectively!

But exploring the same old bridges and museums might get a little boring after a while.

So we have compiled here a list of seven unusual things you can do in Frankfurt that’ll make your stay a very special one!

8 Offbeat Things To Do In Frankfurt

1. Experience the world as a blind man

Didn’t you ever wonder how a blind man experiences the world around him?

Well, imagine no more! At the Dialog Museum, you can get a taste of this!

You’ll have to walk through pitch-black rooms, guided by visually challenged experts, and rely on your other senses to understand the world around you.

Sounds dashing, isn’t it? This exciting museum is located in Innenstadt, Frankfurt, and you can even visit their website online!

2. Visit the Luftbrückendenkmal

Yes, I know, the name sounds complicated. But the history behind this sculpture of a hungry hand reaching towards the skies is a sad one.

The Luftbrückendenkmal was established to commemorate the Berlin Airlift in 1948.

The Allied Powers used to drop essential supplies by air onto West Berlin, which was blocked by a Soviet Blockade.

The pilots used to drop candies and other food items to help hungry children. You can see this and other sculptures in Frankfurt am Main.

3. Crashed tram

You might wonder, “A crashed tram? Seriously?” But trust us, this brilliant piece of art was designed by Zbigniew Peter Pininski as an entrance to the subway.

It resembles an old tram half-buried in rubble and you can take as many selfies as you want here.

We might not get through platform 9 and ¾ to Hogwarts, but this is just as good!

And don’t worry, once you walk through the crashed tram and walk downstairs, the rest of the Bockenheimer Warte subway is absolutely safe!

4. The peeing tree

This list just keeps getting weirder and weirder. As a part of the Frankfurt Comic Art (Komische Kunst), artist Freidrich Waechter decided to give a twist to a tree located near Lake Jacobiweiher.

The tree seems to be perfectly normal and at ease until you go near it.

Just when you stand close to it, the tree sprinkles some water on you!

A sign near the Pinkelbaum (peeing tree) states that “For 300 years I was peed on, starting today I pee back” in German. Now that’s what we call preserving trees!

5. Schaumainkai Street flea market

A flea market isn’t really on anyone’s list of retail therapy, but Frankfurt’s open-air flea market is something to look out for.

Taking place around two Saturdays a month, this market is located along the southern shore of the River Main.

There are a few riverside cafes near this market street too, so grab a bite after you bargain and shop!

6. Nightclubs

Nightclubbing is a big thing in Frankfurt and with clubs like Mantis Roofgarden or Musiklokal Sudbahnhof and everyone in Germany technically swears by beer.

You can visit Lucky’s, a gay-inclusive bar at Grobe Friedberger in Frankfurt, that is also open to other members of the LGBTQ+ community.

What’s more, there are weekly karaoke sessions and a bar lounge.

So if you’re looking for a wild night with your gang and don’t know where to head to, walk straight to Lucky’s and dance your heart out!

7. Escort services

Speaking of wild nights, how about turning your night a little extra wild? Escort services in Frankfurt are guaranteed to make your stay extra special! You can search “target escorts Frankfurt” online and book an appointment with one of the very sexy ladies you see there.

8. Wine thief statue

Even though the entire Germany seems to love beer, at one point in time, there lived a woman named Frau Rauscher who loved apple wine, Frankfurt’s favorite drink.

She apparently used to steal apple wine shamelessly from patrons drinking outdoors.

When scolded or caught, she used to spit back the drink and claim that it was already “returned” (talk about having guts!). In a corner of the Klappergasse lane, you’ll see a statue of Rauscher spitting wine.

Selfie your heart out with her with a glass of wine in your hand.

Don’t worry, she won’t steal from you this time!

Over to you…
