5 Reasons Your Mamma’s Lipo Isn’t Your Lipo

O.k., we know this is kind of a taboo topic, but let’s talk about cosmetic surgery. It isn’t for everyone, but it certainly is growing in popularity, and we can see why. People want to look good. It’s that simple. However, what your mother thought of as lipo, isn’t today’s lipo, and here’s why:

Lipo
  1. Liposuction sculpting is easier now. The surgical risks are much lower now because there are minimally invasive or completely non-invasive procedures. The technology behind most liposuction has evolved exponentially since your mother’s time. There are now lasers, high-intensity focused ultrasound, and cryolipolysis to sculpt your body like an artist.
  1. Cosmetic procedures like liposuction are fast. You can literally get a facial or a micro-liposuction treatment in the same amount of time. Coolsculpting liposuction is another option and the best part is that it is entirely non-surgical! You can expect a 20-30% fat reduction in a single area. It works by “freezing” your fat cells so that they can be expelled from your body more easily. Lipotherapeia can treat your arms, tummy, waist, butt, legs, thighs, stomach, waist, bra rolls, back, hands, upper arms, décolletage, neck, jawline, cheeks, under-eye, full face and all of those problem areas can just disappear.
  1. You don’t need general anesthesia. One particular surgical risk is with anesthesia. Some experts ward that it can be neurotoxic (not good for the brain). Even minimally invasive procedures now use local anesthetic which is much safer for you. There are also many procedures which require no anesthesia whatsoever.
  1. Recovery time is improved. It used to take many weeks, or even months to fully recover from a procedure, but now you can walk in and out of a procedure, rest up for a few days to let your body heal, and often be back to your daily activities within less than a week. Say goodbye to excessive bruising, unbearable pain requiring addictive pain-meds post-surgery. In many cases, a little ice and some ibuprofen will do the trick. And rest goes a long way to allow your immune system to kick in to heal your skin and muscle tissues after a procedure.
  1. The price is more reasonable. Cosmetic surgeries used to just be for rich and famous people. Now you can have a range of cosmetic, beautifying procedures done without breaking the bank. Expect to pay anywhere from $2000 to $4000 per session for Coolsculpting and $7000 for Vaser High-Def liposuction. You’d likely spend more at a fancy restaurant for dinner, or for a year’s worth of personal training sessions at a fancy gym.

We know that nothing is going to work as good as eating right (darn it, I love those deep-fried pickles!) and consistent exercise, but hey, we all need a little help from time to time to look our very best. It’s nice to know that the beauty industry along with medicine have upped their game, and made better technologies that more people can access. Cosmetic surgery is a whole new thing, now.
