5 Proven Ways To Improve 4G Signal

We all experience bad reception from time to time. That 1 lonely bar on your phone can surely ruin your work call, your daily conversation with your mom, or your shopping on Amazon. If that happens every once in a while at a local diner, then fine, but what if that’s the constant reality at your own home? This can harm your work and personal life. How can you fight back?  Here are some foolproof ways to improve your 4G signal reception!

  1. Try a cellular signal booster. This is a fairly technical, drastic measure, but it works like a charm. And if you need it for your mobile internet, there’s a specific device for that too. Once you have the right mobile network booster, you can forget about all the connection problems once and for all. Now how do you choose the right one? You should consider your circumstances carefully:
  • Your location. It’s important from the point of view of the signal strength. If you are far from the nearest tower, your outside reception will also be poor. For that, you are going to need a stronger, more powerful device. It will enhance that outside signal and make sure you have a comfortable connection. That mostly occurs in the countryside, not so much in the city. If you are fairly close to the tower, but still have difficulties catching a signal, you will need another device with a different antenna.
  • Your mobile carrier. There are two types of boosters on the market. Carrier-specific boosters that work only on a certain frequency that one specific carrier uses. Those generally cost a little less, but then again, work only with one mobile provider. And then there are broad-band boosters that can suit multiple providers for both calls and 4G connection. If you are running a restaurant, you would probably want the latter, so all your guests can feel comfortable. And if you want it for your home, a single-band device might be more than enough.
  • The area of your house/place or business. Boosters differ by coverage, so, the device models may vary depending on your needs. For example, if you are looking for a booster for one specific room in the house that just doesn’t receive the desired bars, it’s pointless to get a booster with over 1600-330 sq ft coverage. And if you are running a big hotel in a secluded area of the countryside that is located in a big mobile blackspot, you’ll definitely be in need of a big coverage device. 16000 + sq ft.

As we mentioned before, that’s a quite drastic way to solve the problem. If that’s too pricey of a solution, for now, try the following:

  1. Relocate. This can mean moving to a different spot in the house or opening a window. Moving outside, or trying to keep the phone as high as possible. The reasons for your poor reception could be different. So if you get a clear signal outside, and it just doesn’t get through, there’s clearly too much metal/concrete/wiring in the way. The most effective short-term solution is to relocate.
  2. Phone settings. The reason for your trouble might be hiding in the settings of your device. And more often than you think, low reception might be caused by low battery. Don’t let your battery dry up and watch the charge levels. In general, make sure your device is properly set. Meaning the following:
  • Watch the charge level
  • Make sure you turn off all the apps and services you don’t use
  • Reset network settings
  1. Update your software. Remember those notifications your phone gets every once in a while about your network updates? The once you ignore? Well, don’t ignore them, because they tell your phone which tower to connect to and if there are any new towers around. So, do the updates promptly.
  2. Remove obstructions. This is surely not a complete guarantee, but it might help your signal get to the phone easier. Remove all the access furniture or extra wiring you have laying around and the signal will reach you effortlessly. Keep your windows open if you can.

Keeping your mobile signal on a high level might be a tough job in some areas, but don’t despair. There’s always a way out. Try one of the options listed above and we are sure you’ll be successful.
