5 Activities You Can Do With Your Children At Home

In today’s day and age, people end up spending most of their active hours in the office rather than at home. Which is a good thing because they need to take care of their family. But it feels as if sometimes it robs them of their fun-time with their family. Kids are very impressionable at a young age and they need to be encouraged to be active and curious. One of the best ways to do this is by spending whatever time you get with your kids at home doing fun activities together. This list talks about some of the fun activities that parents can choose to partake in along with their kids at home.

1. Making-up Stories and Writing Them:

This is a very fun activity that you as a parent can participate in along with your kid(s). It will allow you to not only judge the creative and imaginative mindset of your kids but also allow it to develop further. The stories do not need to be complex Sidney Sheldon thrillers but rather something simple. The main goal is to have fun rather than have a Booker-prize winner. Start with a simple plot. A man has two kids. Let your kid decide what the gender should be and should they be rich or poor. Then you jump in and take it into a certain direction and then let your kid choose their actions and stuff. Also, make sure you are writing it down as this will be helpful in developing their writing skills which can go a long way.

2. Cooking Together:

Cooking is an essential thing for everyone to learn. No one’s asking you to be Gordon Ramsay but knowing basic stuff just to get by is very important. Teaching your kids a few basic things from an early age can be a good idea. It can also be a very fun activity to do with your kids at home. You can bake cookies or cakes and let them decide the shape. You can also let them do some safe preparatory stuff like adding the sugar and butter while you monitor them. Obviously, you don’t let them near sharp objects very first but do let them get familiar. Don’t add to their curiosity by not telling them what these tools are for. They will try to figure out for themselves. One simple thing to do is make lemonade.

3. Playing Games:

Now, I am pretty sure most parents already do this. Games can include anything from playing hide-and-seek to board games to video games. You can try finding out some super fun game for kids which you can enjoy with them. Certain board games like monopoly or card games like UNO is very great for family fun. You can also play with legos and build a tower or any other building with them. Let them use their imagination and creativity while you guide them wherever necessary. Playing video games like Super Mario bros and racing games can be very fun. Obviously, when they are a bit older you can upgrade to more hardcore games.

4. Learn Something Together:

This will be not only a learning experience for your kid but will affect you too. You can try learning how to paint or something simple like how to draw a dog, cat, or a house. If you know a few things already teach them that. But slowly move to things even you can learn with them. This will help you teach them better. Learning to play a musical instrument like a piano is also a great idea. Who knows your kid might really take an interest and end up becoming a maestro. You can also learn certain art and craft stuff like making a pen-stand or a flower vase. Let your kid be creative with the colors. Using playdough is a great idea.

5. Film Yourselves:

This is really important as it will forever capture these memories and will give you something to look at and feel good. Dance like there’s no tomorrow and film yourselves. Try crazy (but safe) stuff like see who can balance a bottle on their head for the longest while walking in circles. Who can juggle the longest? Sing songs and have tonnes of fun filming. Then you can look at the video and have fun afterward. Sometimes let your kid prepare a play and direct it on your mobile or the camcorder. Believe me, you will remember these times.
