4 Facts You Should Know About the Stargirl Season 2 Finale

Stargirl, the CW action/drama series based on the comic book character, has reached the end of the second season. Eclipso’s reign of terror over Blue Valley has ended, but the resolution has changed both the heroes and the remaining villains. Viewers might need to remember certain facts about the finale before heading into the third season.

4 Facts You Should Know About the Stargirl Season 2 Finale

1. Eclipso Is Defeated

Eclipso encourages Stargirl to embrace her hatred of him, which allows him to possess her and gain power over both darkness and light. Her allies take various shots at Eclipso, but as long as Eclipso controls the Cosmic Staff, he remains invincible. Sylvester Pemberton, AKA Starman, arrives to control the staff temporarily. Courtney gathers enough strength to exorcise Eclipso. With the combined powers of her allies and an ill-worded wish by Jakeem, Eclipso is literally turned to toast.

2. Courtney’s Allies Change

Geoff Johns and Lee Moder’s Stargirl may be the protagonist, but her supporting cast is full of dynamic characters. Beth is more confident in herself than before, but now her parents are too involved in her superhero life. Yolanda is also back as Wildcat and has forgiven herself. Jenny leaves to find her brother, Todd, but Sylvester stays to mentor Courtney. Mike and Jakeem are inspired by their experiences to create their own supergroup. Cindy has the biggest surprise by actually wanting to join the JSA and become Courtney’s ally.

3. Enemies Become Friends

Cindy is not the only villain who is trying to change her ways. The Crock Family, consisting of Lawrence, Paula, and Artemis Crock, join the final battle against Eclipso, even if they did not contribute much. This small contribution shows they are nowhere as villainous as before, and the decision by Lawrence and Paula to break out earlier just to see Artemis’s college tryout makes their decision to become the Dugan-Whitmore Family’s next-door neighbors a natural one. Even Shade, who started out as a dangerous ISA member, chooses to stay in Blue Valley out of curiosity.

4. A New Threat Emerges

A few episodes before the finale, Jenny visited the Helix Institute in hopes of finding Todd. While she was unable to find him, Nurse Love became interested in the teens and alerted the institute’s leader, Mister Bones. This plot point returns in the finale’s stinger, as Love sends another report about heroes and villains working together in Blue Valley, convincing the sinister Bones to pay the town a visit.

Stargirl‘s second season finale concludes the year’s major stories and character arcs. The show’s world is large enough to build up to an even bigger third season that viewers can anticipate and enjoy.
