Winter Home Improvements

Winter is coming! Christmas, snow, New Year’s celebrations, cold nights in snuggled under a nice blanket, the full works. It’s also generally a time when you don’t want to do as much around the house because the days are shorter and it gets dark so quickly. However, here are some handy improvements that could help turn this winter into an amazing season.

Draught Excluders

Ever notice how your front door or bathroom always have a bit of a draught coming from them. If this is the case then getting – or making! – a draught excluder is perfect. They come in all kinds of designs from cute cows to simple spots. Whatever pattern or theme suits your house or room there is definitely the draught excluder for you. Alternatively, if you’re feeling mildly ambitious, you could make one. There are plenty of different ways to do this, but one way is to: find an old pair of jeans, cut the legs off, stuff them full with screwed up newspaper and finally sew up the ends or tied them off with string. Hey-presto you have yourself a draught excluder.

New Bed or Mattress

Nothing is worse that having a bad night’s sleep. Tossing and turning and not being able to get comfy and then waking up like you never even shut your eyes. If any of that rings a bell, then you should definitely consider buying a new bed or mattress. In fact, Bedstar have double beds with mattress next day delivery that will help make those long winter nights so much better. Since they have the option of next day delivery you can quickly and easily improve your night’s sleep.

Curtains

It always surprises me each winter how much of a difference switching the curtains makes. With thicker winter curtains that help the house lock in heat better, you will really notice the difference. Always remember to close them when it gets dark because as the temperature drops then you will start to loose heat out of your windows and the curtains can help to prevent this.

Rugs

If you live in a house that had floorboards then getting a rug in time for winter can not only liven up a room, but also help ensure it stays warmer for longer. Heat is lost through the floorboards and covers them – even only part of them – will really help. Plus who doesn’t love snuggling on a nice fluffy rug with a cup of hot chocolate and a nice big blanket?
