I guess you won’t know if you don’t try, right? Giri will teach you about yoga, and then educate you on how you can use it to take back control of your life. Liam practices some yoga and works at meditating. His psychiatrist has been implementing these techniques to help him better manage and control not only his anxiety, but his anger too.

She has even taught him four poses that are meant to help anxiety directly. The first is called the child’s pose. It’s a common relaxation pose in yoga. I can’t find an image, but basically you kneel, and stretch your arms out in front of you on the floor, with your face down. It’s to stretch back, neck and shoulders which is where most of us carry our stress.

Another pose she taught him is the tree pose, (pictured below.) This one is easy too and he loves it. His other favorite is the warrior pose. Again, no image, but google it and results will come up. I even have started doing some of these poses when my anxiety is creeping up on me, and they really do help.

Spirituality

Giri shows us how spirituality must be integrated into our day-to-day lives. Even if you don’t believe in these practices, I guarantee you you’ll feel differently after you read his book. I had my husband read it after I was finished and was impressed that he’s been talking about it. He’s even trying to attempt some easy yoga positions to help with his muscle tension and anxiety. (It’s harder for him because there’s a lot of metal in his body!)
