If you were lucky enough to not need glasses as a child, you may now notice that your vision is starting to change. As we age, so too do our eyes. So how do we know when it’s time for reading glasses? Well, let’s talk about it!
Is Time for Reading Glasses?
Did you know that when you hit forty, the internal lenses in your eyes become less flexible? That means they can’t focus as well from near to far like they once did. So how do we know if we’re ready for reading glasses? Well, it’s simple really. Can you see?
When you’re reading books, papers, magazines, or tablets, are you having to hold them out away from your eyes? Is the print blurrier up close, or in dim light? When you’re doing tedious tasks that involve eye concentration do your eyes ache? If so, then chances are it’s time for a pair of readers.
(Even if you already wear glasses for near sightedness, as you age, you also become far sighted. The difference here is the opposite of the names. When you’re near sighted, you see great up close, but not far away. When you’re far sighted, you can’t see as well up close. And as we age, our far sight becomes less and less.)
