ANNE FRANK

Annelies Marie aka Anne Frank was a famous German-born diarist and World War II Holocaust, victim. The Diary of Anne Frank which was written by her has gone on to be read by millions. Escaping Nazi persecution of Jews, the family moved to Amsterdam and later went into hiding for two years. During this time, Frank wrote about her experiences and desires. She was 15 when the family was found and sent to concentration camps, where she died.

MOTHER TERESA

Agnes Gonxha Bejaxhiu who became known as Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, a small town in Albania, Yugoslavia on 27 August 1910.She was a well-known lady who devoted herself to the service of suffering humanity. When she was only 18, she came over to India as a teacher of Loreto Convent School at Entally in Kolkata. It was while working there that the conviction was born that her true vocation lay in working among the poor, the sick and the dying. She and her sisters took dying people off the streets and housed them in Nirmal Hriday, so that they might, if nothing else dies in peace, surrounded by love. A devout Christian, she was a silent worker and lived a simple life, clad in a white sari with a blue border, a small cross and the Bible in hand. This apostle of peace and love passed away on September 5, 1997.

AMELIA EARHART

After a plane ride at an air show, Amelia Earhart decided she would learn to fly. In 1928, she was invited to be the first female to fly across the Atlantic, but only as a passenger. With Pilot, Earhart landed in the United Kingdom on June 17, 1928. She became an instant sensation. After several more successful flights, including a solo trip across the Atlantic, Earhart decided to fly around the world. Amelia and navigator Fred Noonan took off from Oakland, California on June 1st, 1937 and made it 22,000 miles to Lae, New Guinea. At 8:43 am, on July 3, US Coast Guard Vessel received the last communication from Earhart and launched an immediate search. However, the plane was never found, and her mystery is still researched today.

DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES

Princess Diana who married Prince Charles in what was dubbed the “Wedding of the Century.” After a bitter divorce, she was killed in a car crash in 1997 while trying to escape the paparazzi in Paris. Diana, Princess of Wales, was renowned and admired the world over for her glamor, her inspiring Women apparel, her personality and her charity work, which focused on landmines. She is the mother of Princes William and Henry. Regarded by many as the “people’s princess,” Lady Diana, is one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Her passing away came under huge media scrutiny
