They just want to bounce

As an adult, gravity and bouncing are not our favorite combination. But the kids? They can’t get enough of it and it’s an activity that can be enjoyed by the 4-year-old right through to your teenagers. Going to a trampoline park will excite the whole family, and frankly? Wear them out for the day! The best park about trampoline parks is that they cater to a wide age group and if bouncing isn’t their thing, there is also recycling and other activities to keep them occupied.

Splish, splash

What’s a school holiday without a stop at a waterpark? Provided the weather is right, a water park is a great activity for kids of all ages as well as adults. With all the lifeguards on duty, it’s pretty easy for to relax by the pool with a good book knowing that the kids are entertained and safe.

Admission to the parks can be quite steep, so pack your own snacks as lunch as typically the food offering is small only and only adds to the expense. Setting up a home base is a great way to tackle the day as every kid will have their eye on a specific ride and might well separate. Give them waterproof watches so they know when to come back and reapply sunscreen.

Family museums & exhibits

No one is suggesting that an 11-year-old is a fan of the works of Van Gogh, but museums around the work offer exhibits or entire centers that are created to be enjoyed by children. They choose subject matter that kids will love and then have interactive activities to get the kids engaged.

The perfect activity for those school holidays to keep their brains occupied and to gain an appreciation for the arts. The best part about these museums and centers is that they are usually always in a central area of the city, which makes exploring before and after easy to do.

Take them to the flicks

Maybe this one feels too obvious, or too easy. But if you want to enthrall the whole family for a few hours then a movie is the way to go. If the movie is a sequel to a much-loved blockbuster, watch that one the night before you go to get them even more excited. If you really want to make it special, Gold Class will make them feel like royalty and they will get a real kick out of ordering and eat a meal in the movie.

So much energy, and so little time to plan and execute a fantastic all-ages activity. But fortunately, they don’t all have to be big events and some can be as simple as getting out of the house for a few hours and going somewhere they have never been. Try and find something that will keep all the kids interested, as there is nothing worse than the complaints of bored from your teens or the little ones not able to participate.
