Shower Cabins Bringing Low Maintenance Luxury To Your Bathroom

Shower Cabins Bringing Low Maintenance Luxury To Your Bathroom

For the average person in the average bathroom, baths have really had their day.  This may sound harsh, but essentially it’s true.  Showers have long been ahead of baths from the perspective of sustainability (efficient use of water) and from the perspective of making the best use of space.  The introduction of shower cabins means that showers not only become much lower maintenance (because the self-contained nature of shower cabins means there is no need for tiling) but at least equal baths in terms of luxury as well.  Here are ? tips on how to turn a shower into a luxury personal care experience.  They will work with standard showers and work even better with shower cabins.

Get your shower properly organized

Let’s be honest, it can be only too easy for showers to turn into serious clutter zones with bottles and whatever all over the place. The way to stop this from happening is to ensure that it’s easy to put everything away somewhere which isn’t the shower floor. The key point here is that it has to be easy or else people won’t bother doing it – and that includes you.  If you go for a shower cabin, then the chances are you will get a decent-sized shelf which you can use for your products.  With regular showers, it’s very difficult to install shelves because regular showers need to be tiled.  You can, however, look at other solutions, which can also be used in shower cabins if you have a lot of products or if you prefer to use the in-built shelf for decor.

One option is to use vertical organizers such as shower caddies.  These have the advantages of keeping all your products where they are going to be used and of making use of the vertical space.  Their disadvantages all relate to the fact that they have to be installed with minimal to no support, due to the fact that regular showers need to be tiled (and shower cabins are not meant to be drilled into).  This means, for example, that there’s quite a restricted limit on how much they can hold, so, while one organizer might be fine for smaller households, it’s probably not going to be enough for larger ones.  Additionally, if you use the sort which are hung from shower heads then smaller people may have difficulty accessing the upper section of it.  More affordable shower caddies do not necessarily last very long or look very good and while more expensive ones can be expected to last the course, even they can make your shower area look cluttered.  You can downplay this somewhat by decanting your products into attractive containers so that they can (almost) pass for decor, but if you are thinking about this, remember to be realistic about how likely you are to stick with this over the long term.

Another option would be to store your products outside the shower and just bring them with you when you need them.  There are various options for this, of which the most popular are usually attractive wash bags, and storage baskets which are both decorative and waterproof.  Either can work well, or you could use a combination of both.

Give yourself somewhere to sit

Overbath showers may be “standing room only”, at least if you like a decent level of pressure, but, one of the great advantages of dedicated showers is that they offer a combination of easy access (no more clambering over the sides of baths) plus the option to sit if you wish.  Some shower cabins actually come with flip down stools (of the sort used in trains and airplanes), but even if they don’t there’s room for a freestanding stool.  Just make sure it’s a waterproof one.  Having a place to sit is not only good for people who’re less steady on their feet for whatever reason.  It can be a whole lot more convenient for anyone who wants to give themselves beauty treatments in the shower.

Stimulate your other senses

Shower radios have been around since 1985 (the inventor was Andrew R. Mark) and, as is usually the case with technology, they’ve improved over the years to the point where most can do a pretty decent job of playing music over the sound of running water.  If you’re a really fan of music while you wash, then shower cabins are definitely the way to go as they have inbuilt radios with high-quality speakers, in fact some also have Bluetooth connectivity.  Shower cabins also have their own inbuilt lighting and some of them have colored lights for extra fun.  For smell, you can use anything from room fragrances to scented products or, if you use a standard shower, you could try putting a scent diffuser in your bathroom and adding your favorite essential oils.  We’d suggest sticking with battery-operated products for safety reasons.  If you go for a shower cabin, you can opt for one with a steam generator and aromatherapy module, which will give you the ultimate luxury of finishing your main shower with a scented steam treatment.
