Pool Maintenance Tips To Keep Your Pool Sparkling Clean

There is nothing worse than a pool which isn’t clean and the result of not caring for the pool properly is that ultimately nobody wants to use it.

This of course makes little sense which is why it is so important that you take proper care of your pool and give it the attention that it deserves.

In reality the job of looking after your pool is nowhere near as time consuming as many believe.

Pool Maintenance Tips To Keep Your Pool Sparkling Clean

To help you get on top of your pool cleaning and maintenance, we have some tips for you from the experts at Mr Pools in Sydney.

Shocking The Poll After Parties

When there is a big group of people who have been using the pool the levels of cleanliness take a nose dive and sometimes the filtration may not be enough to naturally clean the pool up as much as it could.

A great tip here is to do something called a pool shock, which is where you raise the chlorine levels up to four or five times their normal levels.

Leave the pool this way for 4 days and don’t use the pool at all.

Once the 4 day mark comes around, began to dilute that chlorine with more water until it gets back to normal levels.

Filtration Care

A healthy filter is the key to a clean swimming pool and you should always look to take care if it as best as you can.

Each week you should be looking to clean the filter basket and make sure that there is nothing blocking up the filter itself.

Once a month you can backwash the filter which will pump water through the filter and into the waste pipes, this will get rid of any scum which has deposited on the side of the filter tubes.

General Clean

On a daily basis you should look to invest 15 minutes of your time to skim the pool with a net in order to get rid of any foliage which has fallen, or insects which dived down for a fatal drink in the pool.

Leaves and twigs are not good for the filtration of your pool so a quick skim will really help.

You could also look to brush the pool walls at the water’s edge, in order to prevent any algae building up there.

Chemical Balances

And finally to make sure that your pool is both clean and healthy, always be sure to check the chemical balances.

You pool has a delicate balance of acids and alkalis which work hard to maintain a healthy PH level, this should be between 7.4 and 7.6.

Check these levels on a weekly basis to ensure that everything is in full working order.

If you find that you are too heavy or light on the chemicals, you can very simply remedy this by adding more.

In reality, the best tip for keeping a clean pool is to pay attention to it, don’t leave it for weeks on end, be active and be sure to take a small chunk of time out of your day to keep the pool clean.
