The holidays are coming. If you’re looking for a stand out gift for a loved one or a friend, how about giving them a piece of a mountain? Seriously, how cool would that be?
Now You Can Own (or Give) a Piece of America’s Favorite Mountain
Whether you’ve been lucky enough to climb this mountain, or know someone who has, this makes the perfect gift. Even if you’re not a climber, owning a piece of history is fantastic. Now you, or someone on your gift list can own a piece of history. A bottle full of Pikes Peak! Right now, this is the only place that can legally sell this wonderful piece of history. They can only take out regulated amounts of this mountain. So you better act fast.
Some history
Pike’s Peak is located in Colorado, and is part of the Rocky Mountains. In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson completed the Louisiana Purchase from the French. Pike’s Peak was included in the deal and made part of the United States. It wasn’t until 1806 that Pike and his men saw the Rocky Mountains and a “small blue cloud.” That cloud was actually Pikes Peak.
Did you know?
- Pikes Peak is the world’s second most visited mountain in the world. Mount Fuji in Japan is number one.
- It’s altitude has been calculated to be different heights since 1959. As of 2002, the height measurement is 14,115 feet.
- Crayola made a crayon called “Pikes Peak Purple” in their limited edition set in 2004
- In 1998 Hot Wheels produced a car called “Pikes Peak Celica.” It was designed after the cars that take part in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
The Gift of History
Pikes Peak in a bottle is a fantastic gift. My husband actually climbed Pikes Peaks about a decade ago, so I knew he’d love a piece of it. When he unwrapped his gift, he was shocked. He has it proudly displayed on his “family shelf.” (We each have tiered shelves for displaying items from each of our families.) I still have to get him a frame for the Certificate of Authenticity that comes with it.
