My Quick Guide to Buying Lingerie

My Quick Guide to Buying Lingerie

You all know how much I like lingerie. Over the years, I have written about the various trends, quite a bit.

But, the other day when I was checking out the lingerie range at Simply Be, I realized that I had never written a lingerie buying guide. So, I’ve decided to rectify that situation, today. This article is not designed to be an in-depth guide. But, it covers all of the most important things you need to take into account when buying lingerie.

Start by measuring yourself

I was stunned to read that 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra. Apparently, very few of us think to re-measure ourselves before we go lingerie shopping. So, we fail to take into account the fact that our weight fluctuates and that, over time, our bodies change shape. This is especially the case when you change your exercise regime.

So, re-measuring yourself before going shopping makes a lot of sense. If you are planning on buying a corset, I suggest that you watch this short video. It shows you how to accurately measure yourself for this item of clothing.

Choose lingerie that suits your body shape

It is also a good idea to take those measurements and use them to determine what your body shape is. Armed with this information, it will be much easier for you to buy the right style of bra and knickers.

Choose something comfortable

Looking sexy in your lingerie is important. But, you have to feel comfortable too. Wearing something that you do not believe flatters your figure will just zap your confidence. When that happens it is hard to feel attractive and sexy.

The lingerie you choose also needs to feel physically comfortable. Wearing a bra and knickers that cut into you is not going to help you to feel happy.

Bear in mind the clothes you will be wearing over the top

Your lingerie needs to fit in with the way in which you dress. When choosing it, think about the cut of the clothes you typically wear.

If you are buying lingerie to wear under a special dress, try everything on together. Stand in front of the mirror and look at yourself critically from all angles. Check to make sure that it does not cut into you. If it does you are likely to end up creating unsightly bulges, which will ruin the look of your dress.

Bend over, crouch down, lean forwards and stretch your arms above your head so you can check that your lingerie and dress stay in place. You don’t want your lingerie to show when you bend down to pick something up.
