Limo Etiquette Tips

When it comes to getting a limo ride, most think about just getting them for entertainment purposes. Renting one will probably be one of the best parts of your night! It’s important to remember that although your driver wants you to have a great time, there are certain etiquette rules to follow which you should always adhere too. Limo drivers are professionals and should be treated as such. Think you know all there is about hiring a limo driver and the proper etiquette that follows? Here are a few tips to think about.

  1. Have A Set Number Of People And Let The Company Know Of Changes- Make sure that once you know how many people to expect in your party when you make your reservation and if anything should change, make sure to call that company to give them plenty of time. It helps you and the company decide which vehicle is the most accommodating ( as well as the safest ). If the size changes, alert the company as soon as possible so they can adjust and plan for the additions/subtractions from your group. Make sure you have a quote to get an estimate on how much it will be per person.
  2. Refresh Yourself On How to Enter and Exit – This may seem like a no-brainer but it’s often one of the most overlooked details that cause last-minute errors. What do I mean by this? Allow the chauffeur open the door for you. It’s their job to offer that type of service so unless it was previously agreed upon that another person at your destination will open the door, it could be taken the wrong way if you go ahead and do it yourself. Also, make sure you sit in the first vacant seat and swing your legs inside for a seamless entry if you get my drift. Allow your legs to slide in and then scooch along the row of seats until you found a spot.
  3. Leave The Limo As You Came- A limo may let you feel like a prince or princess for a few hours but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have any responsibility. Imagine if you did a favor for your friends by driving them to a party and afterward, found your back seat filled with spilled drinks, personal items, empty bottles and more. Riding in a limo should be the same; treat it as you would your car. Before you leave, Make sure you clean up and make sure you have everything you brought. Take any trash that you have as well. Your driver will really appreciate it so much and they won’t give you a cleaning fee either!
  4. Tip Your Driver-  Typically you should be tipping your driver about 20 percent of the rental fee. A tipping etiquette for travel vehicles might say 10-15 percent will do but given that a limo is most likely for a special occasion, the extra 5 could go a long way
  5. Tame Your Party – You can have too much fun. Part of respecting your driver is respecting not only yourself but others around you. Smoking is obviously a “no” but also remember to get your alcohol approved by the limo company. You are not the only one who needs to feel safe in the limo. Coarse language should never be used when conversing with your driver, no matter how much you’ve had to drink. If your driver feels threatened by your language or hard partying, it may cause an abrupt halt to your party.
