When you have a baby, you want to be sure that all areas of your home are as safe as possible.
Something that you may not think is a big deal could end up causing harm to your baby.
Going around your home, you will start seeing hidden hazards everywhere. Instead of baby-proofing the whole of your home, why not look at creating a safe play area for your baby?
This way, you can focus your time and attention on one room and make it safe from top to bottom.
Carry out the following and ensure your baby’s space is both secure and safe:

Secure Furniture to the Wall
Even the smallest of furniture items can cause harm or injury if they are not secured to a wall.
Strapping furniture to a wall can take minutes, and it can be done using brackets you can pick up from a local DIY store.
When you are securing furniture, always think about how you can secure those pesky drawer units too.
Drawers can often be pulled off their runners and be a hazard waiting to happen, so look at adding plastic or foam stops to prevent them from fully opening.
Use Baby Gates
If you want to keep your little bundle of joy from escaping their safe play area, then use baby gates.
You can create clever entryways and doorways with a metal, wooden, or mesh baby gate.
When you are installing baby gates, always make sure they lock easily. Some can get stuck, which means that they can often just be pushed open.
Think About the Flooring
Tiles can be a slip hazard, especially when your baby is learning to crawl or walk.
The carpet is not always functional, as it can harbor dirt, smells, and stains. Instead of being restricted to tiles, wood, or carpet, why not look at using Children’s Playmats on the floor.
This way, you can create a space that is easy to clean and maintain and a lot safer, too, as it provides extra cushioning for those little feet and hands.
Cover Electrical Sockets and Outlets
Plugs, sockets, and outlets can look very interesting and tempting to little fingers and eyes.
Taking time to cover sockets and outlets that are low down (and within reach) is important. Little fingers can slip inside outlets very quickly, and you do not want to take any risks or chances.
Purchase a packet of plastic covers and cover any exposed sockets.
Secure Window Dressings and Remove Blinds
Long curtains, drapes, and blinds all pose a danger to your baby. There is a chance that your baby could try and climb up curtains and drapes.
There is also the risk of strangulation via blind chords. Removing these window dressings or taking time to secure them out of the way is essential.
Removing anything unnecessary may be inconvenient, but it will ensure your baby is protected and safe.
