How to Heal Yourself Using Laughter and Lightheartedness

Everyone goes through pain at some point in his or her life. The pain could come from a breakup, the loss of a loved one, or something else. You will need to have some strategies in place to bring yourself back to a healthy emotional level if you’re experiencing pain. The experts say that laughter is the best medicine for such a situation. These are four ways you can get the laughter and chuckles you need to boost your mood and self-esteem.

How to Heal Yourself Using Laughter and Lightheartedness

Spend Some Time With Your “Funny” Friends

Your friends and support people are the individuals who can help you to heal. Therefore, you should spend as much time as possible communicating with them and hanging out with them. It would be helpful to choose friends you can count on for a good laugh at any time. Everyone has a friend or two that they consider funnier than everyone else. Choose those friends and start hanging out right away.

Start Looking for Movies in the Comedy Genre

Movies are excellent for healing because they allow you to escape into another world for at least two hours of your time. You can start searching for movies in the comedy genre if you want to heal yourself through laughter and good times. You can choose from thousands of movies designed to make the viewers chuckle. You can choose modern movies or take a blast to past and check out some of the 80s or 90s comedies. The older movies are probably more slapstick than the newer ones are, and that might be exactly what you need.

Read Books by Comedic Authors

Books are an excellent healing method if you’re a reader. Many talented authors make a living by putting a comical and witty spin on their material. Tim Federle is one such author. Federle has a library of classic material that provokes thought and laughter. He has written versions of classics with his comedic spin. “Tequila Mockingbird” is an example of one. “Better Nate Than Never” is another example of his witty work. You may want to review his work to see if it’s something you might be interested in adding to your collection of healing materials.

Exercise Frequently

Not many people know that exercise can make them laugh. It’s true. Exercise changes the chemical makeup of the brain and releases hormones that can give you a happy and giddy feeling. Endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine play a role in the positive change of mood you can experience. Try visiting the gym for a half-hour to start. You’ll want to visit more once you establish a viable routine. You can then develop a strategy where you can exercise at least three times a week for the best results. You will be glad you took the time to work on your mind, body, and soul.

Use the methods mentioned above to get the sparkle back in your eyes and the giggle back in your voice. Being able to laugh every day will make you feel more youthful and happier in the end.
