What most people don’t realize is how important it is to ensure that their landscape is fire resistant. A fire resistant landscape is essential for the safety of the property and also for the safety of the lives of the people. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know much about fire-resistant landscapes, we are here to help you. We have compiled a list of suggestions and ideas that you can incorporate into the existing landscape that will help you ensure that your landscape is fire resistant. Here’s everything you need to know:

Add Stones, Rocks, And Gravel To Your Landscape

One of the most efficient and most straightforward ways to covert your landscape into a fire resistant one is by ensuring that you have stones, rocks, and gravel installed in the area. Large decorative rocks installed between trees, stones that are placed as decorative boundaries around shrubs and flower beds and gravel for the walkways and pathways is just what you need to make the landscape fire resistant. The best part about installing stones and rocks and gravel is that these are extremely affordable options and they are easily available too.

Water Bodies For Your Landscape

Well, we all know it, water can prevent the start and break the spread of a fire. If you’re looking to incorporate a slightly more luxurious idea that will make your landscape look fabulous and at the same time ensure that it is fire resistant, you should consider installing a beautiful flowing water body in the area. Ensure That There Is Adequate Space Between Plants / Trees

For your landscape to be fire resistant, you need to ensure that the trees and plants have adequate space between one another. If you’re going to make your landscape a cramped one with no space between one tree and the next, there are much higher chances of a fire breaking out in your landscape. On the other hand, if you make sure that there is at least a foot’s distance between the trees the landscape will be a lot more fire resistant. Some people also install decorative rocks and stones in the open spaces between the trees.

Clear Out Debris, Trim, And Declutter

Another vital thing to keep in mind to ensure that your landscape is fire resistant is that you need to make sure that you clear, trim and declutter. All excessively long branches, plants that are growing out of control and bushes that are out of shape should be trimmed on a regular basis. The timely trimming of this foliage will help in preventing fires to a great extent. Further, all dead leaves, flowers, and other dead foliage should be collected and swept up on a regular basis. Dead leaves, twigs and branches are susceptible to fired and in order to keep your landscape fire resistant, it is essential that you clear them out from time to time. Lastly, decluttering your landscape can also play a major role in making it more fire resistant. If you have a landscape that is overflowing with plants and trees and landscaping products and has limited space to move about, you may want to get rid of some of the unnecessary objects and decorative items to make the place safer.

Install Water Retaining Plants In Your Landscape

Making your landscape fire resistant is simple. The installation of water retaining or moisture retaining plants in your landscape can play a major role in keeping your landscape safe from fires. You can consider installing succulents, cacti, aloe, agaves and other such plant varieties to ensure that your landscape is safe and fires are prevented in the area.
