Dofus is probably one of the oldest and longest-running RPG games of all time.
The original flash-based version of the old-school Dofus was released all the back in 2004 and quite surprisingly it still remains alive and kicking.
It’s been almost 2 decades and throughout this long history, Dofus has changed quite a LOT from what it started out as.
Developers have done a number of revamps besides introducing a ton of unique content to keep the game going.
But recently Ankama, the developers of Dofus, decided it was time to introduce this masterpiece of a game to a wider audience by releasing a mobile version called Dofus Touch!

But much to everyone’s surprise, the developers stated Dofus Touch to be a different game from the Original Dofus. Here’s how
Less Content
The PC version of the game was released all the way back in 2004, more than a decade earlier than the mobile version, which was released later in 2016 to widen the scope of this game by introducing it to a large mobile gamer’s community.
However, this large gap between the two versions was very hard to fill, so instead of following in the footsteps of the original game, developers decided to give Dofus Touch a new direction by not adding everything that was in the PC version of the game, which was kinda impossible anyway.
So the game misses out on almost 6+ years worth of content from the original title but in order to make up for it, Ankama introduced some very unique content that was exclusive for the mobile version of the game.
And since many of the Dofus Touch players hadn’t already played the PC version of the game, all of that past content from the PC version that was missing from this game wasn’t a big deal.
Different Gameplay Experience
Since the mobile version of the game had to be remade, the developers took the opportunity to change a lot of things in order to make Dofus Touch a more touch-oriented game to enhance the player experience.
For one, exploring the dungeons in both of these games is quite different. In the PC version, you have 4 dungeons rooms and a boss room but in Dofus Touch, you get 2 rooms and a boss room.
Your characters from the PC version of Dofus cannot be transferred or played on the mobile version of the game, since the two versions have a large content gap and cross-play is not supported.
Dofus Touch is also much less difficult and competitive than the original PC version of the game and it makes total sense as most of the mobile community is new to Dofus and getting started would have been a hassle otherwise.
And while for some it might be less competitive if you have been at it for a while but for others, it’s a good way to earn easy Dofus Kamas in the game.
Ankama wants Touch to have its own unique identity and place in this gaming industry, different from the PC version.
Different UI
For those who have been playing the game on PC and are switching to the Touch version of the game, the UI can feel very different since designers had to make a lot of changes in order to fit the UI of the game into a smaller version for the mobile devices.

After playing the game for years on the PC, the UI kinda takes some time to get used to it and since the UI elements are a lot less smaller than that of the PC version, sometimes navigating through the game can be frustrating.
But as for the new players that should not be a problem as the mobile version of the game is much more easy to get started with.
For the old players, it might just be better to get keyboard and mouse connected to the device with a big screen but then again, why play the game on mobile?
Conclusion
Dofus touch is very different from the PC version of the game for many reasons.
There is less content in the mobile version to make it easier for the new players to catch up and giving Dofus Touch a new identity in the gaming community.
Dofus Touch is also much easier to get started with for the new players as the difficulty level compared to the PC version is quite turned down.
rIt can be thought of as a lighter version of the game that can be played on the move.
