Home Improvements for a More Photogenic Appeal

house and driveway

Whether it’s a rented place or your own dream home, it feels good to share photos with friends as you invite them over to a party or for brunch over the weekend. If you’re considering selling your home, its aesthetic appeal will have a large impact on its selling price and how fast you manage to sell it. Still, on the latter, there’s no better way to sell your home than using stunning photos of the outdoor an indoor appearance. In other words, how appealing your home looks on the photo can determine a whole bunch of things.

Repainting

One of the best ways to make anything photogenic is to play well with color. And let’s face it; no matter the quality of the camera you use, a house whose painting is boring, dull, and worn will never be appealing on photos or in real life. To add some photogenic appeal, you may want to give your home a new paint job, making sure you choose the right colors. For the outdoors, you could try choosing paint colors such as cuddly white, creamy, warm green, playful yellow, tango orange, or brick red for that vibrant feel.

Window Treatment

Windows play a huge role in our homes. They regulate privacy and the amount of natural light coming in. They also serve as ventilation for our homes, while at the same time acting as an important piece of interior and exterior décor. Simply adding treatment such as curtains, blinds, or window shutters to dress your bay window can go a long way in boosting your home’s overall photogenic appeal. With proper window treatment, your home could easily be the talk of the town by just how appealing it is on IG or Facebook. The photo/s you post on that real estate listing site when selling your property can help it move really fast. It can even make it to the front page of your local shelter magazine. If you’re taking photos in the daytime from inside the property, just make sure you open your blinds, curtains or shutters to let enough light in to get those stunning images.

Landscape Up

Still, on the home’s exterior, nothing boosts your property’s curb appeal than well-maintained landscaping. Things such as overgrown trees and untrimmed lawns can make your home and the entire property to look like a mess on every photo you take. Clean your back/front yard, and ensure that it is clear of unnecessary objects or clutter to boost your home’s curb appeal and make it more picturesque.

Cleaning and decluttering

Truth be told, dirt and clutter will always make you (or the target object) in photos look like a mess.  Even though the benefits of decluttering are many, whether it’s the exterior or the interior that you want to get amazing photos of, cleaning and decluttering is one of the things you should consider for your home to make it worth taking pictures of/from. Even though it may sound more of a routine task rather than home improvement, get rid of items you no longer need and thoroughly clean it from inside out to boost your home’s curb appeal.

It always feels great to have a beautiful home. It feels even more amazing to post a photo of your home online and get a gazillion likes from your friends, followers, and even strangers. However, all this may depend on just how photogenic and appealing your home is. The above are just some of the many home improvements you can do to achieve this.
