Getting Your Home Ready For A Baby

The final months of your pregnancy can be overwhelming, to say the least.

You need to prepare the nursery, batch cook meals, and learn how to be a parent. But honestly, all you want to do is lie in bed with a good series on Netflix.

The third trimester is exhausting, and it’s okay if you are struggling. We are with you.

A little organisation and preparation can soothe your stress levels and anxiety.

Write down a list of everything that needs to be done before the baby arrives.

It can include anything – from packing your hospital bag to making your birth playlist.

Write it all in one place so you can tick things off as you go and add other items if needed.

Getting Your Home Ready For A Baby

Here are a few tasks you should prepare before your baby comes.

Babyproof the home

Once your baby arrives, time moves at super-speed, and they will be crawling before you know it.

Baby proof your home in advance and remove anything that needs to go. You might need some stair gates or a play mat for the living room floor.

Prepare the nursery

If you are fortunate to have a nursey, now is the time to decorate. Hang up a few floating shelves with baby books and a couple of cuddly toys.

Or keep it super simple and go for a neutral room with a cot and changing station.

You can add a few wall decorations to give the room some character – just don’t hang them above the cot. Your nursey doesn’t have to be glamourous and filled with belongings.

In fact, it’s much easier to clean and babyproof a minimalist room.

Prepare baby’s wardrobe

Baby clothes are one of the best parts of being pregnant.

You will need plenty of baby grows and sleepsuits when they are a new-born. As they get older, you can move into skirts, jeans, jumpers and all of that fun stuff.

Invest in some organic bamboo baby pajamas to keep them cosy throughout the colder months. You could even hang a few of the special clothes under the floating shelves.

Find your feeding and pumping area

Feeding can be tricky at first, whether you’re going for breast or bottle. You need a calming area to feed your baby in peace.

You could have a rocking chair in the corner of the nursery with some dim-lit lighting around it.

Make sure there is a table next to the chair of your phone and a glass of water. You need to be comfortable – especially during the night feeds.

Prepare yourself for the arrival of your baby, and make sure your own bedroom is ready as well.

Batch cook a few meals for you and your partner to eat during the first week. You will thank yourself later.
