1. Eat Breakfast

In fact, the average American eats breakfast only 3 times a week. Simply put, this isn’t cutting it. 

If you really want to lead a healthy lifestyle, you need to eat breakfast on a daily basis.

And you can’t stop at just a granola bar or a fried egg. It’s important that you prepare a full meal. 

Your breakfast sets the tone for the entire rest of your day.

It provides you with energy, it sways your mood, and it helps you focus until lunchtime rolls around.

Eat breakfast regularly, and you’ll be off to a great start. 

2. Carry a Water Bottle

Not only do many individuals fail to eat breakfast on a regular basis, but they also fail to drink adequate amounts of water.

If you’re part of this group, you need to start focusing on your water intake right away.

Dehydration leads not only to reduced energy levels but reduced strength and mood as well. 

To ensure that you’re drinking enough water every day, it’s a good idea to carry a water bottle around with you.

Sipping on this water bottle periodically is an almost surefire way to consume adequate levels of water.

The average human requires 8 8-ounce cups of water daily. Note, though, that this number can vary based on your size. 

3. Take Care of Your Teeth

You can’t forget about oral health.

Neglecting your teeth and gums will not only destroy your smile but it could also lead to a number of health issues, from heart issues to blood sugar issues to lung issues and more. As such, you need to take care of your teeth. 

Ideally, you’ll brush your teeth after every meal.

However, if you can’t make this happen, you should, at the very least, brush twice a day: once in the morning when you wake up and once before you go to sleep at night. 

Flossing is recommended as well. But unlike brushing, flossing only needs to be done once a day. 

4. Exercise Early

Exercise is vital to good health.

If you’re skipping out on exercise, every aspect of your health will suffer, from the physical to the mental to the emotional and everything in between.

As such, you need to prioritize exercise. 

One of the best ways to ensure that you do your workouts is to wake up and get them in early.

In doing so, you make your workouts an established part of your daily schedule.

They become a priority and not something that you might be able to sneak in at the end of the day. 

Now, you don’t have to do anything crazy for exercise. In fact, you don’t even have to go to the gym.

There are plenty of at-home workouts that you can make use of, including these workouts right here. 

Exercise 3 to 5 days a week for 30 to 45 minutes at a time and you’ll be good to go.

Try to work in both cardio and resistance training, but if you’re going to prioritize one, make it cardio. 

5. Sleep

It’s impossible to overstate the importance of sleep.

Sleep is important not only for physical health but mental health as well.

Those who suffer from sleep deprivation tend to experience a number of negative effects, from depression to a weakened immune system to high blood pressure and more. 

At a minimum, you should be getting 7 hours of sleep every night.

Ideally, you’ll get 8 or 9. 

If possible, go to sleep at the same time every night. 

Maintaining a consistent bedtime will keep your body in rhythm, reducing stress of both the physical and mental varieties. 

6. Meditate

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

As such, if you want to maintain optimal well-being, you need to spend time meditating every day. 

Now, this doesn’t mean that you need to cross your legs, position your fingers into “okay” signs, and say “om” with your eyes closed.

It just means that you need to find a quiet place and spend some time relaxing. 

You could meditate while doing yoga; You could meditate while sitting on your back porch;

You could even meditate while going for a walk. The point is to get away from the stresses of life, even if just for a few minutes. 

7. Stretch Yourself Out

If you’re like most human beings, you spend almost no time stretching — at least not consciously.

Sure, you might reflexively bend your back and contract your arms when you wake up in the morning, but you likely don’t dedicate any time to stretching. 

Simply put, this is a mistake. Stretching is important not only because it reduces the risk of injury, but because it relieves both physical and mental stress.

As such, if you’re not stretching, you’re subjecting yourself to a substantial amount of undue agitation. 

Generally speaking, it’s good to stretch at least three times a day: once in the morning after you wake up, once in the afternoon, and once at night before you go to sleep.

It’s also wise to stretch both before and after exercising.
