Fun Art Websites for Children

Creative kids are a joy, but we all know that unleashing their creativity can cause a big mess. Luckily in today’s online world, your children can get creative with no mess, and even learn at the same time. The only problem is finding educational and appropriate websites for them to explore. Luckily we have compiled a list of some of the best websites to explore, create, and learn.

Interactive Art History

This interactive art history project lets you segment by date to discover what was happening during specific dates in our history.  They even include what was happening in art in different locations!  Definitely, one to check out and learn from.

This one may be more in-depth, so we suggest you take the time to explain to your kids and learn with them!

The Smithsonian Learning Lab

The Smithsonian Learning Lab allows your children to visit more than 16 interactive activities and explore the Smithsonian Institutes including the American History Museum, The American Museum of Art, the Museum of African Art, the National Portrait Gallery, and more. These interactive exhibits allow your children to hear stories from art history as well as do various creative activities.

The Met Kids

The Met allows your children to explore their exhibits through an interactive “time machine”. This is a fun way to see the exhibits through specific times, places, and big ideas. These lead your children to specific art pieces and teach them about the works. These paintings and exhibits also have small activities to make your kids think about the artworks and time period in a more modern way.

Toy Theatre

Toy Theatre is a more fun activity centered website for your kids to enjoy. These allow your children to unleash their creativity through art projects including building blocks, doodles, design, animation, and even dip into Matisse painting and Japanese woodblock printing. You can screengrab and print your child’s artwork so it can even be hung on the fridge like traditional art but without the mess.

Aminah’s World

This website, Aminah’s World, is from the Columbus Museum of Art and allows your children to make collage style artworks for a more focused artistic activity. They can choose from tons of different backgrounds and fabrics and layer on found objects and other quirky things to make amazing printable artwork.
