Eliminating Home Odor the Eco-Friendly Way

Eliminating odors in your home is not always easy. Sometimes it can take a while to find the source of the smell. Other times you know the source, but getting the smell to go away instantly can be hard to do. I have two eco-friendly ways that I like to eliminate odor in my home. One way is by using Grow Fragrance Air + Fabric Freshener and the other way is by filling my home with house plants.

Eco-Friendly Way #1 – Grow Fragrance

Grow Fragrance was started to make a product we all wanted, but could not find. They created Grow Fragrance from 100%  plant-based ingredients to use in your own homes. They never add materials considered carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxins, despite their widespread use. They never test on animals and avoid essential oils that have sustainability issues.

Grow Fragrance scents smell divine and has the staying power unlike other air + fabric freshener I have tried. Most air freshener scents seem to last for about 5-20 minutes after you spray. When you use Grow Fragrance, you can smell it for over hours. I like to use their sprays not only for at home, but also at work. Suggested usage is to spray in the air and on fabrics. For the longest lasting fragrance, spray on fabrics (quick test on delicates).

  • 2-3 sprays for a bathroom
  • 5-6 sprays for a bedroom or office
  • Spray generously throughout large and open spaces

Grow Fragrance is available in four scents: Apple Pomander (limited edition for Fall), Citrus Cedar, Bamboo, and Lavender Blossom. Each scent comes in two sizes: 2 oz. lasts for over 200 sprays ($7) or the 5 oz. lasts over 500 sprays ($12) with free shipping on each order (no minimum). Their products are manufactured in the USA. Grow Fragrance donates 1% of all sales to 1% for the Planet to help protect land, forests, rivers, and oceans, and also encourages sustainable production methods.

Eco-Friendly Way #2 – House Plants

Most of us know that using plants in your home can help clean and filter indoor air. Some of my favorite plants that I like to use and are easy to care for include a peace lily, philodendron, and geraniums. It is recommended that you get larger plants that are in 6- to 8 inch containers, but if you have over 1,800 square feet, the plant needs to be anywhere between 15 to 18 inches.
