Weight loss – it seems to be on everyone’s to-do list.  Whether you want to look great in a bikini for summer or you need to lose weight for health reasons, weight loss is really difficult for a lot of people.   If one of your mental barriers to weight loss is that your life will turn into a series of kale salads and green tea, then think again. Eating healthy does not mean giving up flavor and comfort food.  Quite the opposite! Healthy food can be creative, bursting with flavor and full of all the cozy comforts that you crave. If finding ways to incorporate delicious healthy food into your weight loss routine is something you are looking for, then read on!

  1. Did Someone Say Chocolate Shake?

Yes, me, I said chocolate shake.  One of the best things to incorporate into your new weight loss regimen is meal replacement shakes.   If you’re looking for a great way to stay nourished and full-feeling when cutting down your food intake, a shake can offer some much-needed assistance with that.  A high-quality shake will be high in iron and protein and essential vitamins and minerals, as well as providing the right balance of carbs to support your energy levels throughout the day.  That said, these shakes should be used alongside a balanced diet, or for a short period of time as a way to start a weight loss journey, rather than a replacement for every meal.

  1.        Gluten-Free is Your Friend

I used to be really anti-gluten-free.  Then, I did a cleanse that eliminated wheat and my life pretty much changed.  I couldn’t believe all the delicious gluten free options for pasta, tortillas, and flours for baking. Eliminating gluten will reduce bloating, without reducing flavor.

  1. Planning is Key

Healthy food often takes a bit more preparation than your run of the mill comfort food, like 2-minute noodles or mac and cheese.  To ensure you aren’t stuck with a boring, unsatisfying salad, make sure you plan your ingredients well ahead. I like to keep a fresh batch of shredded carrots and beetroot in the fridge to toss on salads in addition to some toasted nuts.  This turns every salad into a filling and tasty treat.

  1. 80/20

Depriving yourself 100% of the things you crave and love often backfires.  All too often people will eliminate all pleasure food and drinks only to find themselves binging on these same items just a couple weeks later. Aim to live by an 80% of the time super healthy eating with 20% of flexibility.   This means things like Friday drinks or the occasional ice cream can sneak their way into your routine.

  1. Be Patient

Weight loss doesn’t happen overnight.  It often doesn’t even happen over a couple of weeks.  True, healthy weight loss will happen over the course of a few months. When you are embarking on a weight loss journey – set yourself up for the long game.  Get creative with your recipes and branch out to new cuisines and flavors to keep you motivated to eat healthily.

Eating delicious, flavourful, healthy food will make you feel so good inside and out.  The healthy and clean living is the fastest way to achieve your weight loss goals. In addition, you will be pleasantly surprised at the mental clarity that comes with cleaner eating.  But don’t let words like clean and healthy make you think about bland and boring food.  There is a whole world out there of super tasty healthy foods waiting to jump onto your plate.  So go on, put on your walking shoes, walk to the store and get exploring!
