CBD Guide: What Is It, Can It Get You High, And Is It Safe

There are many misconceptions about CBD. Like whether or not it can get you high, will it appear on a drug test, etc.?

This is not surprising since more than 62% of the American population believes any form of CBD products like those found at Avida CBD should be legal.

But, that hasn’t stopped other people from doubting the substance.

To clear out any confusion, we’ve decided to make a detailed guide on CBD.

Here, we will answer all the questions for you. So, let’s get right to it.

What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD, for short, is a naturally occurring chemical that comes from the Hemp plant.

These plants have more than 80 different such chemicals; CBD is just one of them. Today, it is a trendy component in countless natural products.

Due to its numerous potential health benefits, it has inspired plenty of research.

Over the past couple of years, there have been a lot of advances in the Hemp industry.

CBD edibles, oils, vapes emerged with a specific dosage of CBD.

The latest technological advances made the industry more consistent with keeping the users engaged and enthusiastic.

Is CBD Healthy?

According to Harvard Health, CBD became the center of attention for a good reason.

Right now, it is believed to have the potential to treat a series of health problems such as:

  • Inflammation
  • Chronic discomfort
  • Lack of sleep
  • Anxiety
  • Skin problems

But, one of its more prominent features is the efficiency to treat epilepsy in Lennox-Gastaut and Dravet syndromes.

These health complications don’t respond well to anti-seizure drugs, making them a serious problem for young patients.

Despite the complexity, CBD has managed to penetrate the system and curb the seizures.

For some patients, the seizures stopped completely.

As soon as word got out of CBD’s effectiveness for seizures, it took the Internet by storm.

This inspired scientists to analyze the effect of this chemical and whether or not it can be used for other health issues.

Later, countless studies emerged showing that CBD could help with stress, anxiety, and sleeping difficulties, including other effects, stated the National Institutes of Health.

Not too long ago, the FDA approved the very first CBD-derived drug Epidiolex, which is packed with this naturally occurring compound.

Can It Get You High?

THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is another chemical present in the Hemp plant. It is the one chemical that can get you high.

CBD is different. It doesn’t contain any known psychoactive elements.

The brain has unique receptors that absorb CBD.

Without these receptors, the compound wouldn’t be able to get to the molecules and into the bloodstream.

If a Hemp product contains more than 0.3% THC, the cannabinoid will interact with the brain and result in a psychoactive response.

But, since CBD products don’t contain more than 0.3% THC,it would take major dosing to elicit the high effect (just image drinking an entire 30ml bottle).

In other words, it shouldn’t get you high, explains Live Science.

Does That Mean It’s Safe?

CBD is a relatively well-tolerated compound that doesn’t put too much strain on the body.

While side effects are possible, like irritability, exhaustion, and nausea, it exposes the body to less debilitating side effects.

However, do have in mind that the chemical can increase the Coumadin level in the blood.

In other words, it can interact with certain medications, like blood thinners, for example.

If you want to know if CBD is good for you, you need to consult with your doctor.

Every health condition will affect the product differently. Therefore, it’s crucial to know if CBD will interact with your medication.

As of now, the FDA doesn’t regulate the purity and safety of CBD supplements.

So, it’s best to read the label before purchase to see if any of the ingredients in the product will affect your health.

This Sounds Good, But Is It Legal?

In 2018, the Farm Bill was passed, making hemp products in the United States legal to sell.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that all the products from the Hemp plant are legal.

Legal products have 0.3% THC or less. That means any cosmetics or dietary supplements that feature the approved THC level are, in fact, legal, stated the National Library of Medicine.

Final Thoughts

CBD has undergone plenty of scrutiny over the years since it is derived from the hemp plant.

But, regardless of where it comes from, it’s not designed to get you high. Overall, it is a safe product to use with multiple health benefits.

It could prove useful for chronic difficulties, insomnia, or stress.

However, due to its complex nature, a lot more research is necessary to study the full extent of this chemical.

The currently available research is pretty limited, so it’s a good idea to consult with your doctor before you decide to add it to your diet.
