QILT are surveys conducted by the Australian government to evaluate institutions of higher education.

Campion’s attained its position from the overall score in the Quality of Entire Educational Experience nationwide Student Experience Survey. The institution scored 96.9 per cent.

Campion College is Australia’s first liberal arts college. It was opened in 2006 as a vehicle through which the Campion Foundation Limited could drive its efforts to offer quality liberal arts education at the tertiary level.

Campion was established to fill the need the Fellowship recognised for broad undergraduate level education, which prepares the student for future vocational study.

It provides education in core science and humanities subjects with a curriculum suited explicitly to Australian society.

Campion’s determination to provide quality education is evidenced by its score of 95.9 per cent in Learner Engagement In Australia.

This score maintains the college’s top position from last year’s survey. The achievement is highlighted by Campion’s 10 point lead over the number 2 institution in the overall student experience.

Campion’s overall performance in the combined QILT surveys remains consistent. It maintained its place ranked among the top 10 institutions.

These results included high rankings in other categories: Skills Development, Quality of Experience, Student Support and Teaching Quality.

The outstanding performance observed by the higher learning community is a product of the unity of a number of specific factors which boost Campion’s capacity to deliver an environment where students can excel.

One of the primary factors is the small class sizes.

As the student body is smaller than other colleges, students have resumed face-to-face learning since August 2020 and into the 2021 school year, despite Covid restrictions.

A smaller number of students per classroom allows the college to observe mandated safety guidelines without managing larger crowds of students.

The president of Campion College, Dr Paul Morrisey, extolled the benefits of Campion’s in-person learning and small class sizes.

“We’re very fortunate to have a smaller student body, as it means we’ve been able to bring all our students back onto campus, with safety protocols in place,” he said.

In addition, “So much of the Campion experience is the community, the small class sizes as well as the easy access to lecturers, and we believe this has contributed to our place as the number one institution for learner engagement.”

As to the award, Dr Morissey expressed his pride in Campion College’s achievement.

He said, “At Campion, we believe that a degree should be a formative experience in which you don’t merely learn facts, figures or theories, but rather to assess them critically, question them and discuss and debate them, both in class and out.”

The curriculum at Campion College is based on the humanities with a disciplinary focus on philosophy, history, literature and theology.

Students who enrol in the college may attain a Bachelor of Arts degree after three years of study.

A limited number of science courses are also available for students who take an interest.
